Finally a book that explains how a person can manifest a more powerful personal and professional life.Going beyond simple advice and into simplifying vital scientific knowledge, AQ@Work is filled with achieveable and exciting methods to help everyone access their potential. This book doesn't tell the reader he should be more successful, more productive, or more positive,, this book actually describes usuable tools for becoming more successful, more productive and more positive! The use of the Climbers, Campers, and Quitters metaphor is a brilliant way to guide reader's visualization of their current status on life's path. Some may resent the labels and metaphors, I would urge them to read the description of Camper once more and weep.... Summary: Adversity Quotient @ Work - Works! Read this book! Dr. Paul Stotlz has written a wonderful book that can help us all to accomplish more at work and to enjoy it while we do. With his easy to undertsand concepts and easy to follow "how to's" we can all learn to harness the adversities and obstacles that we face every day and to use them as springboards in our lives. This book has already helped me and many of my friends to develop a higher level of perseverance which is helping to drive higher levels of accomplishment and statisfaction not only in our work but in every facet of lives. Dr. Stoltz, thank you for sharing your great insight! Summary: Pop Psychology Masquerading As Science Very, very little science in this one and one of many current books taking on a simple metaphor and developing a whole theory around it (...life is a climb, don't quit...or how about, life is like fishing, try different lures each day...or, life is like sharpening a pencil---sharp points work effectively, but sharpen too much, and the pencil grows short...). I went to a writer's workshop and the consultant there stated that the quickest way to publish a book is to think up one of these silly metaphors and write a self-help book around it. Maybe the author of this one was in the same workshop! Anyway, my advice is for readers to "climb a real mountain" and read good science---not this turkey. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Very Fun, Sexy, Hot Read Joanna's Challenge was a very fun read. Complex emotions, strong secondary characters that further the plot, a well developed storyline, and outstanding dialogue, which added another level to the sexual tension in this book. There are so many wonderful layers. Moments that had me laughing out loud, tearing up and sighing. As for the heat between our hero and heroine... well, let's just say that you could use some ice cubes. The scenes are hot, creative and intense. Warning: There is a scene with a sex toy and some light bondage-more like a game between the couple than a lifestyle-so if you don't like some fantasy exploration with your sex, don't read this book. Anyway Joanna's smart, funny and most importantly not afraid to stay one step ahead of her estranged husband and put him through his paces. While Lucas is an alpha hero who just tries to keep up and does so wonderfully, even managing to surprise Joanna every once in a while and to laugh at himself. I know I certainly wouldn't kick Lucas out of my bed, but it's his cousin Rigo that I'd love to have. (Ms. Fredrichs, please write Rigo's story!) I did have the slight eyeroll at the big misunderstanding but I was surprised by how the final confrontation came together and I was cheering for Joanna as she kicked her adversary's butt (verbally). There is a high concentration on sex in this story-it's an Ellora's Cave book after all- but I enjoyed it! The story is about much more than just sex. It's about love, trust, miscommunication and the demons of doubt inside of us. Some of the issues presented had threads of real life issues, although the villain was still a little over the top. It was fun! Overall, I enjoyed myself. This is the author's first novel and I'm hoping it won't be her last because I'm dying to know who she comes up with for Rigo. Please, please let Rigo's story be next. Oh, wait I said that already. Summary: |
