Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: I can never forget reading this book in lifetimes to come It's more then just an autobiography. It is about life, it is about surviving. It is about the unfailing human spirit that never say die. It is about hope when everything goes wrong. It is about learning how great athletes are made. It is about suffering, it is about pain to the top of the ladder. It is about rise of a `Phoenix' who never said die. There are parts in the book that reduce you to tears of sorrow and to the tears of bliss and joy. It is about sharing the toughest time of one of the pioneers, a role model, a warrior, a saint... My life is never same, after reading this book. All I can think about is "How did he do that?..." Summary: Inspirational! I loved this book. It is very inspirational for anyone dealing with cancer. It is also just a great read. Lance Armstrong comes across as a regular guy, with human failings, but with a phenominal talent, and great dedication and determination. He has done a great service by writing this book. Summary: Lance's biggest triumph This was much better written than many celebrity autobiographies, and provides a compelling view into the struggle required to overcome cancer. We begin with Lance's somewhat troubled childhood and his early successes on the bicycle before we delve into the real meat of this book, his fight against the cancer that almost took his life. Armstrong is quite candid about personality flaws and early bad behaviour, which provides an air of honesty that makes this book all the more powerful. His comeback to the pinacle of the bicycle racing world is truly remarkable, but given his personality, perhaps it shouldn't surprise us as much as it does. Here is a remarkable athlete, and a man who appreciates the second chance he's been given. A truly inspirational and enlightening book. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Bicycle repair and maintenance Excellant manual! Great info and well illistrated. I use mine a lot! Summary: Great book... could be better... This book does a great job covering everything basic to intermediate. I'd highly recommend it and I think that it's the best I've seen in this price range. It's not Barnett's manual but it is better than the Park tools and Zinn books in my opinion. I'd like to see more (and better quality) pictures. I've seen high res color pictures in books half this price. Summary: Complete, well-written, easy-to-understand. I like doing repairs and maintenance myself to save money. Now that I have a good bicycle, I want to service it myself. This repair manual is nice. It is full of good illustrations and pictures, tips, and advice. Most things are explained in an easy-to-understand manner. It's obvious that the author likes servicing bicycles, and that he wants the reader to enjoy it too. This makes the book pleasant reading material as well. The book is also comprehensive--it explains all parts of the bike and how to repair them. After going through it all my questions were answered, and I learned a lot. If there is anything left out, I can't imagine what it would be. My only complaint with the book is sometimes explanatory text doesn't completely match the accompanying photograph. This isn't a major concern for me, but can be mildly irritating. For most people, this book should serve well. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Bicycle repair and maintenance Excellent book with great information. Could be illistrated a little better. Summary: One of the best Best aspect of the book is it doesn't try to cover road bikes and mountain bikes. Good descriptions Many diagrams but wish it had more Summary: The Gold Standard for Home Bike Maintenance I've got a shelf full of bicycle maintenance/repair books, and the Zinn books are the best of the bunch. First of all, they're very comprehensive, describing in detail anything and everything you might need to do to keep your bike rolling smoothly. Descriptions and photos are straightforward and easy to understand. Best of all, the Zinn books go beyond just laying out the bare bones step-by-step instructions---they actually give theory and background as to why or why not. There's some good information in the discussion on frames early in the book, too. Before I bought my first Zinn book, I would've had trouble changing a tire properly. Since buying the books, though, I've completely overhauled each of my bikes multiple times, and I am now beginning to build up a single speed mountain bike from a bare frame. Summary: |

| ISBN: 0743555619 List Price: $20.00 Amazon Price: $13.00 Usually ships in 24 hours |
Avg Cusomer Rating: 3 Reviews: Summary: Not much here The middle aged hero of this story has gotten fat after the death of his wife and his cholestorol has gone sky high so he goes on a crash diet and buys a stationary bike. Being an artist he draws a picture of a lovely country road to a tiny town in upsatate New York on his wall. After a few weeks things get weird and our hero finds that while he's losing that flab he's also traveling on the road for real and somehow he's angered the workmen--- the guys, real guys somehow who maintain the road which is really his own body. This is dreary cauationary tale for fat guys has too much cursing, too much product placement and there's only one good scary moment: the scene in Carlos's garage. Other than that one scene I did not care about the hero or what was waiting for him at the end of the road. I don't want to say that the King is dead but maybe he's under a spell, or stunned or sleeping or something because this story just didn't take off. I'm not saying that I want King to write like he did in Carrie or Salem's Lot because that is impossible but I do wish he could get his literary groove back. Stationary Bike was just lackluster and wouldn't even scare a nervous two year old. Summary: Excellent Solid storytelling. I have to disagree with those that didn't like (better yet, love) this short story. Stephen King is at his best here. For those who loved, The Long Walk, I think this story is a sure-win to entertain. It kept my attention and made me feel like I was actually riding on Richard Sifkitz kick-pegs. Do it again, Stevie! Summary: shameless product promotion This was an imaginative story, not very scary, but a clever idea. However, what bothered me, and served as a constant source of distraction was the brand name dropping that permeated the entire thing. Was this product placement, literary style? SK- I love your stuff and admire you greatly, but this just annoyed me. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Still the best guide, but ... If this the first Zinn MTB maintenance guide you buy, you'll find tons of useful info. If you own the previous version, you'll see most of the material remains the same. The major (and welcome addendum) is the inclusion of rear shocks. However, few models are covered. For front shocks, there is still major and extended references to old forks, which I am in doubt if people still use them, and superficial reviews for new ones. There are a few new items added like tuning rear shocks, Stan Notubes, slime, tubeless etc - but this info is readily available in web sites. Overall I give this book 4 stars average - five if this is going to be your first copy, three if you have already one. Summary: Essential I have to say before getting this book I was a little worried it would be to advanced for someone so mechanically challanged to follow but it details just about every thing you would ever want to do on a bike that even someone like me can follow. I was at first a little surprised to see that it had no pictures (only drawings) but they are very detailed and explain the moves in a manner which would have been hard to do with photographs. Well worth the money. Summary: Benefits for both Veterans and Rookies As a rookie, I first checked out the second edition Zinn from the local public library - it taught me the basics of adjusting the limit screws on my derailleur and how to replace spokes on my rigid frame mountain bike. After 10 years of riding in Marin CA, I now have a dual suspension mountain bike. These bikes are expensive and complicated with a lot more things to break and adjust. I now own a third edition copy of Zinn and am glad to have it. It is a good owners manual. The book provides guidance for things I can do and things I am better off not doing. Even when I can't do something I like to know how it works. The book provides an added level of safety in getting riders familiar with their bikes and providing guidelines for evaluating if things are worn out and what a good replacement schedule is for parts. Unavoidable things in life include death and taxes, mountain biking adds a concept 'everything will break at some point' and when it does you want to be able to consult Zinn. The book is nicely indexed and is set-up in easily understood sections that will allow you to handle specific problems you are having with your bike. Explanations are concise and there are a lot of pictures and figures of various models of equipment. Fun to read even if you don't work on your own bike, and allows you to save some $ if you do. Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Sandler was a sales genius! Here's the thing--I have been in high-end straight commission selling for a long time. I have seen sales people come and go in my industry. Those sales people who survive end up figuring out and using the Sandler strategies intuitively, even if they never heard of Sandler. These salespeople figure out that they better find out pretty quick if they've got a viable prospect or not, instead of being a walking brochure and giving presentations and dog and pony shows to anybody who will listen. Sandler was a genius sales trainer because he told it the way it is for the day-to-day salesperson. Case in point--before I ever heard of Sandler, I had already made enought sales to realize that the best prosepct was a prospect with "pain." My first sales manager years ago used to ask me, "Where's the pain" when I told him I had a hot prospect. "Find the pain, find the pain," he used to say. I often wondered why the traditional sales/motivational gurus(you know, the giants at NightingaleConant company) never talked about "pain." Oh, sure. They talked about a prospects "need". But they never took it further than that. These gurus never talked about getting the prospects nitty-gritty "pain". (Alot of sales gurus tout "Spin Selling." Like that is some new revelation in selling. Give me a break.Salespeople in my industry call "Spin Selling"--"Sandler lite" because that's what it is. "Spin selling" is taking Sandler and making it agreeable to the mass of sales people out there.) Anyway, I think I've said enough. Except that learning the Sandler Selling System will change your sales life. You'll be happier, have more self-esteem, have more control of the sales call, and most importantly, you'll go to the bank more often!! Summary: you can't teach a kid to ride a bike at a seminar the best book for sales people or people working with clients . Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Kauai on a shoestring If you're curious about what Kauai is like and what there is to do there, Kauai Trailblazer is your guide. Practical info is as good as you can get and their style is lively and positive. We counted on it day by day to get us to the highs. The locals even gave it the two thumbs up. We stayed in the plantation cottages they recommended and never looked back. Our getaway turned out to be not that expensive. We're going back for more at Christmas. Summary: Prime guide HIGHLY recommended. We designed our own itinerary weeks ahead looking at all the photos in the book. A virtual Kauai. Another good feature is their layout. The hikes and snorkeling spots are grouped according to place. As we circled around we knew exactly what there was to do in each town. In the front of the book, before the list of hikes is the authors "Best" list. Start there. If this is your first visit, this is the book to have. Summary: Puuokila Hiking If you are lucky enough to vacation on Kauai you should take the hike on page 170. It follows the highest rim along the top of the Kalalau Valley. The view down is an everchanging dreamscape. We followed the trail all the way to the Alakai Swamp, an all dayer, and when we returned around five the valley view took on a whole other personality with swirling clouds that were pink and orange. We made a poster of the photo we took at sunset. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Get this book We were impressed with the huge scope of information and activities they fit into 256 pages. The trek into Waipio Valley filled up the whole day and was one of the most memorable days of all our vacations. Most tourists descend in vans and are zipped out in an hour. What a beautiful untouched place! It was tempting to swim at the beach but the advice in the book changed our minds. If you go, be sure to take this hike. Summary: from the fading tans who are fans Honeymooning in Hawaii was my new wife's idea and buying this guide was mine. Both turned out to be perfect choices. We stayed at the Mauna Kea which was expensive but we balanced it off by exploring the coast using this guide. We felt very adventurous going down unpaved roads through lava fields and were rewarded with beautiful blue lagoons and expansive solitary beaches. We only touched the surface of all the cool places they listed inside. Until nextime Big Island . . . . Summary: The Big Island We enjoyed every aspect of this guide especially it's organization and clean style. The one we bought from Amazon was their revised 2005 version. Bravo to these hiker-authors who did all the legwork for us. Summary: |
