Summary: A real eye opener!
This book made me think about money in a whole new way. I think everyone should read it at least once. I plan to read it again just to make sure I didn't miss anything.
Summary: Inspiring and influential!
Ive just turned 18 and am entering adulthood in a world whereby the way forward is no longer focussed around a sound education. The book which explains that the modern education system no longer provides students with what they need to excel financially is enthralling to say the least. The writing technique allows readers to follow the authors life as if watching every major step whereby a new lesson on becoming wealthy is learnt. Whether it be the idea of literally "making money" aty the age of 9 or understanding the simple yet supposedly complex difference between assets and liabilities, i was compelled to keep reading. As Kiyosaki says, for those of you who want to take control of your financial future - READ THIS BOOK! And at merely 18 i already know that even though i have to start somewhere the idea of climbing the corporate ladder will never come to pass because one day the corporate ladder which so many people aspire to climb in their lifetime will one day be owned by me.
Summary: Make money the way the Rich make money
This book will teach you that you need to depend on yourself to become wealthy.

I read a couple of other reviews that said a couple things. First, if you want to become rich, just work harder. Secondly, that the author said to save money and not spend it, but he had a Rolex and a Porsche. As a result of this book, I have been investing in Real Estate for only a couple of years, and I now have a Rolex with diamonds and saphires, my wife prefers her Cartier:-).

At over 50 years old, I lost my job with a six figure salary from a corporate down-sizing, and I did not care, because I had my own money from real estate investments I made on my own.

The most important lesson he teaches in this book is, most people don't make money because they are chicken, chicken to make their own decisions. I'm glad I leaned not to be a chicken. And, anyone who is not excited about what this book teaches is a chicken, will always work hard for someone else, and any money they have saved will come from not spending on the things they want.

The Rolex and the Cartier I bought together for over $15,000 was easy, I had just made over $80,000 on a single real estate deal. I would never have spent that kind of money if I had to work for it. In fact, I call my Rolex my "Badge of Boldness".

Thank you Rich Dad, Poor Dad.

Summary: The best of Kiyosaki's
Some have reviewed this book as a "more of the same" from Kiyosaki, more of what you can find in RDPD, but for me it's, first of all, the best of all Kiyosaki's books, always remembering that is best to read the first two before, though not estrictly necessary, but the main issue here (the nice thing about Kiyosaki) is that more than simple concepts, is that he helps you change your MIND, where all poverty or richness reside after all, so the more you read, no matter if it may seem repetitive, the more insights you get. Kiyosaki is full of lessons, lessons that are easy to read and understand, but maybe hard to appropiate into one's personal life everyday. I personally have started reading the bokk fir the second time and I discovered that many of the concepts I read the first time hadn't got me or taken me as they have now. For me, not only a must read, a book to study.
Summary: Rich Dad, Poor Dad Part 3
This book is for changing your mind set on investing, it does not give specific advice in what stocks to by or where to buy real estate, etc.

It is like Kiyosaki's other books in changing the readers mind set on how money works. He trys to teach in this book how it is not neccesary to have money to make money. Ideas are more powerful than money. The best investment is fulfilling a need that people have through a business. You have to be willing to pay the price to make your plan successful.I actually think this book is better than your run of the mill investment books because he goes into great detail on every kind of investment you can imagine.

At 43 chapters it is a lot of information to take in. I do not think it is as good as his other books but is a good investment of time on your journey of financial independance.
Summary: Not a fan, I can't understand why he is so popular
I am not a fan of Robert Kiyosaki. I find his books superficial and much of what he says common sense. While he introduces some worthwhile ideas, I don't think he develops them enough to be useful.

I also don't like the tone or context out of which this writer expresses himself. I find that it comes across as unfeeling, manipulative and selfish.

I don't have anything against seeking out wealth; however, I think the means to that end is important. In my opinion, this author ignores that important fact and at the same time does not supply the detail that people are looking for or need to achieve their financial goals.

In short, I think this book is a waste of money. There are many other books that can give you more useful information in less space which is delivered from a more humane emotional space.

Summary: Finally a book with real numbers and details, not just fluff like the others
First, I was a bit skeptical because although I really liked the Rich Dad series, I thought it was extremely light in the "how" department. Everything he said made sense, but how do I do it? Well the ABC's of Real Estate Investing will take it to the next step and tell you how.

I listened to the audio book version but I'm sure I'll buy the regular book as well because there is just so much information in this book, especially the checklists. Ok, so why is this book great? Because it's written by someone who actually did all this stuff and is successful. He uses real examples from properties he's owned in the Phoenix area. I lived in this area for 9 years, and I can say everything he said about it made a lot of sense. You don't need to be from Phoenix, I'm just saying that I think the author really knows his stuff.

ATTENTION! Here is a one thing you may or may not like (judging from other reviews): This book uses multi-family (apartment buildings) in all the examples. They cost millions. So although on one hand he makes it sound easy enough that I could do it, I'm not comfortable going after a two million dollar property for my first one! HOWEVER, I think everything he said would apply to an individual family home as well. This didn't bother me at all, and if I ever get a chance at a multi-family unit I'll have more confidence to do it.

If you listen to the audio book, the author reads it himself. Something I really enjoy. I don't like some guy reading as fast as he can, Ken McElroy reads it as if he's sitting next to you telling you face to face. While some of the phrases sound a bit corny or even fake, "Now we don't want any surprises do we?", I think it gives his reading a bit of charm.

Overall, not the only book you need but definitely one of the best I've seen. Great job Ken! Now if only the original Rich Dad series was this good! ;)
Summary: Good Book
I found it quite informative, but as of yet have not put it into practice and as such can offer no further comments.
Summary: Not for beginners
I am a beginner to real estate trying to understand pros and cons of real estate investment. I wanted a book which would explain me step by step on how I can start in a small way and grow big. This books starts big and talks about $2 million dollar investments. I do not want to take such a big step to begin my real estate investments. I would recommend reading 'How to Succeed and Make Money with your first rental house' for beginners in this business.
This book is not worth reading even once.

Summary: Excellent and highly recommended!
My daughter is pregnant and I know very well what her husband and she are going through. As a marriage consultant and sexual therapist I strongly advised them to buy and this book because it is a great source of information for a father-to-be. I do NOT think that he should just follow his gut instinct and hope that he will do everything properly. It is a very important and responsible role to be a father and I would never advise anyone to jump blindly and unprepared. Mr. Brott is an expert in this field and gradually describes an entire role model for a father-to-be. He is very involved, loving, caring, supportive and always nearby. This model is very different from the stereotypical model of a father-macho whose role is to make sure that there is food on the table and the bills are paid.

I am very happy that this book will really help you to be an example of an involved husband and father-to-be. The last thing your pregnant wife will want is a clueless husband who doesn't understand what's going on with her, the baby and feel anxious about the future. This book provides a lot of advice about financial planning and puts everything in a perspective which I think is very important for a man. Probably you will find some parts of it "obvious" but they will reassure and calm you down that what you do is right. Anxiety is one of the worst enemies and this book will successfully help you to keep it under control.

I strongly recommended to my daughter in addition to this book to buy "Scientifcally guaranteed male multi-orgasms and ultimate sex" by scientist Ritz. Pregnancy is a tough period for sex. That's why you may feel bad or even rejected from the serious decrease in your intimate contacts. Ritz made a breakthrough with the discovery of "The VIP Muscle", which generates multiple orgasms in men with or without a partner. That's why my daughter's husband was very happy and calmed to receive from her that book. Now he reads Ritz's book, "enjoys daily multiple orgasms alone" according to my daughter and prepares for "ultimate sex" after the delivery. That's why I highly recommend both books!
Summary: To become a dad
This book was wonderful. My husband and I both read this book. It has great humor to it and covers a lot of issues that a female's pregnancy book doesn't. Money, sex, the raging hormones and changes to MY body from a mans point of view. My husband claims that this book put him to (well some point of) ease about pregnancy and a child. I ABSOLUTELY recommend this book, to both mothers and fathers to be.

Summary: Outstanding Book........But not for the Military Man
This is a very well written book for the new father to be. It breaks everything down "Barney Style" so you can understand it. I liked how it told you what was going on with your child and partner also. You got just a better understanding of what she is going through. The side notes in the book also had very helpful bits of knowledge. Before this I never knew people could store Cord Blood or what it was even used for. If you are a father to be, I would highly recommend reading this book. As a first time father this book taught me so much I will carry with me for a long time. The main point of the book is this "Stay involved" and enjoy this time with your partner you have no idea how special it is.

The only reason I didn't give this book five stars was that it never mentioned it should not be read by men deploying overseas. If you are in the military deployed over seas DO NOT read this book. It will only make you miss your family even more and a piece of you will die knowing you are not there sharing the experience with your partner. Like I said if you are deployed DO NOT get this book, run away from it as fast as the French run from a fight.

Summary: On the road to freedom
This book has opened my eyes about the world we live in today. The way Robert describes the different quadrants and how each person participates in each one is an eye opener. My mind has been opened with this book to pursue more knowledge down the path to financial freedom. You will not get alot of nuts and bolts about a path in this book, but it does a great job on putting your mind on the right track with the knowledge we need. Highly recommended!
Summary: Yeah, 5 stars? Why not?
This is the second book I've read from this author, with "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" being the first.

IMO, it should be read before the first book because it addresses the core issue of this subject with greater emphasis---an individual's mindset.

Mr. Kiyosaki offers a lot of great and positive information here, most of which this reviewer has never seen in this form. Further, it's the most uplifting book I've read in a couple of years. How anyone can walk away from it feeling worse than when they started is beyond me.

He turns many inbred concepts on their head, and just when you are ready to toss the book aside out of disbelief, lights come on; and if you hang in there a bit longer, you may be amazed at how quickly you see the world through the eyes of the author. It simply makes sense---far more sense than anything our education system will ever teach. Hmm...that's essentially what Mr. Kiyosaki says.

On a side note, I must comment on the negative reviews posted here. Many are quite hilarious by themselves, but after reading the book, one might think that the author posted them himself to further illustrate one of the key points of the book, that is, the words we use and think. I suppose that we are to interpret the one-star reviews as a proxy for supporting the opposite view---"The Poor Dad's Guide To Financial Ruin".
Summary: Good book, but not a Guide
Good book. I had not heard about the 4 quadrants before, but his analysis of the type of people in each quadrant was accurate to me. It gave me more inspiration and understanding, but I would not consider it as a guide.

Summary: Definitely read this book before you quit your job
"Before You Quit Your Job" by Robert Kiyosaki is a book of advice targeted to those thinking about becoming entrepreneurs. In my opinion, this book was definitely needed after reading Robert Kiyosaki's previous books.

This book is quite good; full of lots of little tidbits of advice. At times however, this book seems to be disjointed almost to the point of having no flow. I wonder if this book wouldn't have been better off as one of those 100 chapter books with each chapter focusing on one point for 1-3 pages.

Regardless, the advice presented in "Before You Quit Your Job" is solid. The whole point of the book is to keep people thinking about the differences in thinking between entrepreneurs and employees. My favorite quote was the "Employees focus only on their resources. Entrepreneurs focus on opportunities regardless of their resources." I often have found myself thinking in terms of my resources rather than opportunities, so this was an excellent piece of advice for me.

In summary, I thought this book was full of great advice. I just wish it was organized better. However, this book is definitely worth the read for current entrepreneurs and employees thinking about becoming entrepreneurs. 4 out of 5 stars.
Summary: More of the same, but great author background information
Great book! Probably the best of the "Rich Dad" series. I've read a few of them and haven't learned too much since my background includes being a CPA and attorney. However, what I liked the most about THIS book was the background information about the authors that is disclosed.

Have you ever wondered what Kiyosaki is REALLY about? After reading this book you will come to realize that he is a seminar presenter who wanted to package his seminars in the form of a board game. He consulted an attorney who was married to a CPA, and the attorney/CPA team helped Kiyosaki with creating the board game and then marketing it through writing a book. Voila, the Rich Dad series of books came into existence.

I highly recommend any consultant/entrepreneur read this book and outline it so he or she can fairly easily write a business plan template for later use when he or she writes his or her own business plan.

You probably should read a number of books on consulting and self-promotion as well as this book. Consultants market themselves by writing articles, books, and doing talks, seminars and workshops. These are the things that the author of this book says he did to promote his board game and series of books - and look where it got him.
Summary: Read it if you are serious about making the change
I am amazed yet not surprised by the range of reviews. This is absolutely Robert's best book ever. I totally appreciated Sharon's input as she is a straight "A" student and I can identify with her intelligence. However I can also identify with Roberts academic weakness because I studied Medicine not Business so as far as business is concerned, I'm as dumb as he was in the beginning.

I have read Roberts first 3 books, listened to most of his CD's, Studied his Choose to be rich program and am presently enrolled in Coaching. Every time he starts any teaching he covers the basics so if you never read one of his other books you get an introduction to the concepts. Since the books each build on the other he refers you to the others for further details on some concepts. People like me who are serious about making the transition from employee and self employed to business owner and investor hungrily soak up every word out of Roberts mouth. I noticed that most negative reviewers admit to skimming over the book or just listening to the abridged CD. You missed the meat. I'm sorry for you. It's sad to see someone fight so hard for the right to stay the same.

I too find Robert repetitive at times but I use the opportunity to remind myself of old lessons and prepare myself for the new lesson to come. This new lesson usually stands on the foundation of the previous lesson hence why he must repeat it at least briefly.

On my own personal journey to Business owner and Investor I have found Robert's guidance on changing who you ARE and finding the WHY for your change before working on the HOW-TO PRICELESS!! People who want a GRQ (get rich quick) will never like Robert. They should stop buying his books and go elsewhere.

If you really want to make the change don't just read, STUDY. I don't know if you will ever find this dept of insight into what the change really costs anywhere else. Almost Every other writer wants you to think they are great and that is why they are successful. Robert is brutally honest. This is what we need.

Summary: amusing
a quick read with good stories. anyone who is a dad and a sports fan will easily relate.
Summary: Lightweight, but amusing
Mike Greenberg is fairly well known to the serious sports fan as cohost of ESPN radio's morning show "Mike & Mike", and an occasional anchor on SportCenter. In this book, he shares some anecdotes about sports - encounters and thoughts on/with Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson and a few others. When he describes the instant rapport that occurs between strangers who are fans of the same team, many will nod knowingly. But mostly, the book isn't about sports or his experiences at ESPN.

Most of it is about his family life, a goofy look at domestic foibles. Andy Kaufman-like, it's occasionally tough to tell if Greeny is exagerating or if he's being dead serious. He pokes fun at himself and his metrosexual image, happily tells things that make himself look less than macho or clever (social miscapades when tipsy, the fact that he claims he didn't know what a uterus was before his wife's pregnancy etc). Give him some props for guts by admitting that much of the book is from journals he wrote as part of therapy.

While anecdotal, Greeny is a pretty good storyteller, and many of his domestic disaster stories are quite funny. His gambling-addicted aunt Ada is a true hoot. And at times things are sweet and romantic or even poignant. One entry tells of the time his 4-year-old daughter became old enough to take her swimming lessons alone, and the instructor told him "Your daughter doesn't need you" - I bet any parent could relate similar moments.

It's a light book that reads well enough, and made me laugh often. Sports fans and parents may well like it.
Summary: Trite, Boring & Disingenuous
While I enjoy Greenberg's radio show, I was extremely disappointed in this book. Throughout the book, Greenberg relays the same banal stories he repeats ad nauseum on the radio. Unfortunately, unlike on the radio, when Mike Golic is always available to slap some sense into Greenberg, this book is purely 100% Greenberg.

I am always amazed by those people who have lived extremely privileged lives, yet try to act like they have "struggled" in life. Greenberg has had to "struggle" thru a cushy upbringing, going to exclusive schools such as Northwestern and eventually landing his gig at ESPN.

For those of you in the Chicago area, I hope that you caught Debra Pickett's article on Greenberg in the Chicago Sun-Times. While Greenberg professes to be a family man, the article notes how he spent 2-1/2 hours talking about his favorite topic, himself, while forgoing the opportunity to meet his wife and children at the pool. Keeping with his privileged existence, the pool was located at the East Bank Club in Chicago, yet another privileged club to which Greenberg belongs.

I should receive a refund for slopping thru this "book." Hopefully, this review will prevent other people from making the mistake I did. ESPN should fire this wimpy "meterosexual" for writing this book.

Summary: Great for someone in business or already in business
Found that this book covered all the bases of writting a great business plan. As some one who has taken a couple of business courses, this was one of the best sources of information on writting a business plan.

A must for any one in business or starting a business.
Summary: Spectacular book
Wonderfully helpful book. I love this series and can't wait to read them all. While writing my business plan, this book as been by my side, every second, for reference. I don't know what I would have done without it!
Summary: A must read!
This is a must-read book for anyone thinking about starting or expanding a business. Rather than simply another book about writing a business plan, Sutton makes the case early and often about why such a plan is needed - and it isn't always to raise money.

Sutton introduces the reader to Robert Kayosaki's Cashflow Quadrant. He points out that those in the E (employee) and S (self-employed) quadrants really focus on operating solo - and as a result have slim chances for building a business. Why? Because they are creating jobs for themselves for which there is no exit strategy. Those in the B (business) and I (investor) quadrants are team players and are always looking at how they remove themselves from the business situation - if and when they want to.

Sutton makes use of practical examples that help the reader understand the various aspects of writing the business plan - and why each part is critical. He emphasizes that it's okay - and perhaps preferable to get help on various parts of the plan - for example engineers can write and entire plan of 30-300 pages, but may find it difficult to boil it down to an effective one-page summary.

The book provides simple common-sense questions to answer that might be difficult for the would-be business plan writer to come up with alone. Questions like: Is the purpose of my business to make money and serve people - or to serve people and make money? The answer to this question is critical - and in the book he explains why.

He also provides simple, but powerful advice on the traditional SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats). He points out that many people struggle with this because they don't want to appear too full of themselves - or because they think that pointing out weaknesses dooms their chances for success and or funding. He powerfully points out that strengths should be common and compelling - that is the strength should exist in most all business of this type - but that you execute better than anyone else. He also helps the reader understand that weakness should be common rather than catastrophic.

Armchair Interviews says: A must read for business owners.
