Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Every Ducati in a single book Very well written; I have several books by Falloon and enjoy them all. Great pictures and interesting data. Some of the tables are a little hard to decipher, but with time and patience it can be done. I would recommend this book to any Ducatisti or Ducatista and any follower of Falloon. Great service from the Book Rack also. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Excellent This shop manual is much better than the typical third-party shop manual. The instructions for most jobs include step-by-step instructions. Where special tools are needed, alternatives including construction of home-made tools are included. In many ways, for the do-it-yourselfer, this manual is better than the factory manual. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Brilliant and beautiful Whether or not you're a fan of Ducati, its chief designer Pierre Terblanche, or authors Alan Cathcart and Marc Cook, you can't ignore this beautiful, brilliant book. It's an absorbing account of a motorcycle's evolution, at unprecedented levels of detailed reportage. The still and action photos--the latter by Kevin Wing particularly pleasing--are exquisite, detailed and informative. Most enthuasiasts know Ducati's remarkable race history over the last half century, from the great bevel-gear machines whose valve acuation evolved into today's signature desmodromic technology, up to its amazing 2003 MotoGP bike (podiums in its first year!). The V-twin Pantah, suitably bored, stroked and beefed up, eventually using water instead of air to cool, begat the 851, 900S, 888, 916, 996, 998 and now the 999. The book's depth and detail are riveting. Ducati's people, originals to the core, create the focus. No worthwhile vehicle--no designed object of any significance--can be created without committed individuals who believe in what they are doing, into the bones. David Gross, Ducati's creative director, wrote a candid foreword, revealing Terblanche as interesting and controversial. A bit like BMW Cars's Chris Bangle, Terblanche comes across as an egotist--not always right but never in doubt--who despises his critics. This is not a perfect book despite its brilliance and production quality. We needed to see dyno comparisons of the various progenitors to the 999, reference to the WSB 999s vs. the production bikes, and 999/R/S spec comparisons that explain the significant cost differentials. Also, note that this is not investigative reporting. Ducati wouldn't have let Cathcart or Cook into the joint if there had been any suspicion of deviation from an unsullied portrait. And Cathcart's relentless egotism jars--we get yet another opinion or picture of him on a Ducati, neglecting many of the great champions mentioned but not pictured, such as Hailwood, Polen and others. This facet alone removes a star from my review. Nitpicking aside, this is a remarkable and magnificent book written, photographed and produced by genuine enthusiasts who have given us an unprecedented look into the development of a great motorcycle. It stands alongside some of the best of its kind, up there with the Guggenheim's "Art of the Motorcycle" and Nick Ienatsch's SPORT RIDING TECHNIQUES (a David Bull book), both reviewed by me for Amazon. David Bull is publishing at the pinnacle of the motorcycling world. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Ducati Belt-Drive Two Valve Twins Restoration The following review is from The Ducatis Unlimited Connection web site (www.duc.org): There are basically two types of Ducati riders: Those that just ride the motorcycles, and those that are also driven by a 'need to know;' who relish every savory (and occasionally unsavory) detail about these extraordinary machines. If you are the latter type this book is a must have. Although billed on its cover as an "Authentic Restoration Guide" this book is actually much more. It is a cornucopia of interesting details -- seemingly every detail! -- about the entire line of belt-drive two-valve twins from the earliest pre-production Pantahs down to the latest Monsters, STs, and fuel-injected Supersports. And, if the breadth of coverage seems amazing (and it is) even more so is the way that Ian presents it. Not just as a lengthy compendium of facts and data, but as an unfolding story of development and change. One filled with cues and, yes, the occasional miscue. Fascinating! But it's billing as a Restoration and Modification Guide is, none-the-less, correct. Want to know the original color or decal placement on a `82 Pantah? You'll find it here. Interested in learning recommended methods for dealing with the flat spot produced by a Paso 750's auto-type carburetor? That is here, too. Also included -- many for the first time -- are accurate production and distribution figures for each and every model, along with charts that list factory correct tuning data, and such esotery as carburetor specifications, gear ratios, and camshaft valve timing for each model and year. Whew! Filled with scores of photographs and interesting diagrams, this is a book to read, study, and enjoy. DUC Recommended! Summary: Ducati Belt Drive Two-Valve Twins Restoration & Modification The book has a very good over view of the history of the two valve engine both street and racing including pictures of the various bikes the Pantah and Pantah based engine was used in.There are seprate chapters for the differant models from the first 350 and 500 Pantahs to the Monsters and 1998 and up SuperSports. Also included where applicable are the Bimoto models useing the Two Valve engine. The only weakness in the book are the two chapters titled Engine Modifications and Chassis Modifications. The info in the chassis section is very basic,no real indepth modification information. The engine section is a little better listing parts available and there effects when installed, and the importance of having an overall "plan" when chossing mods.Don't look here for the secrete to building a 100hp 900ss because it's not here. The appendix list production numbers, cam specs, fork types, capacities, ect and is well done. The photos are good but all B/W except for the cover. Overall a very good book but not the last word on Ducati Two Valves, but not due to a lack of effort by the auther. Summary: |

| ISBN: 0760312362 List Price: $24.95 Amazon Price: $15.72 Usually ships in 24 hours |
Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: desmoquattro performance handbook Informative, possibly more in depth than necessary on some items, and skimping a bit on others. Example : lots of info on early ECU,s barely touches upon on the 5.9 system used on the later bikes. Also, as on the other Desmoquattro book, this book could also use a bit more info on the 998( testastretta) bikes, but possibly Mr Faloon is just keeping us waiting for his new book on the 749/999 bikes? Either way its still a great book and I recommend it to fellow Ducatisti or those considering becoming one. Summary: Must have for Ducati fans (851 to 999) This must-have book starts with a bit of historical information, then moves on to the Desmo cylinder head, crankcase, pistons, crankshafts, etc., and then intake & exhaust systems, engine management, chassis, wheels, tires, brakes, suspension and finally ends with a section on weight reduction and maintenance. You will probably need a service manual and parts book to complement this performance handbook. Worth having if you're a Ducati fan. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: A good book if your interested in Ducati History The book is for you if you're interested in the history and development of Ducati's from one model to the next. It also has a fair amount of technical information about how each model varies from the next. What I didn't like was that it had only a few color photos and very little information on more recent models (1995 and up).... Summary: Great general history of Ducati and models A very thorough and detailed history of Ducati with a model by model, year by year breakdown. Great to get a general history of Ducati or if you are considering buying one of their bikes. The model specifications at the rear are handy though need to be read in conjunction with the book to get every detail on a particular model in a particular year. Focuses more on the last 20 yrs of Ducati, but could still be considered the definative book on Ducati. A few more pictures would be nice. Summary: Lots of technical information, without getting boring I bought this book out of curiosity, and because I am interested in Ducati motorcycles. And I would say that this book fulfills any need for information about Ducati and the story about the bikes and the men behind it. Great book ! Recommended! Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 3 Reviews: Summary: About as good a book available on 2 valvers This is the best book you can get on the subject of 2 valve Ducatis, which include the Monsters and Supersports. It includes a great history of Ducati, as owned by the Italian government, Cagiva, and a Texas corporate group. Great technical information, a couple of fair diagrams and drawings, but lots of pictures. I dont know if it warrants the hefty price, but a good read nonetheless. Summary: |
