Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Tolerancing for Dummies A very well writen book I had no problem understanding the text and the examples given for creating objects was very simple I picked up on creating tolerancs very easy I would recemond this book to anyone starting out doing tolerancing Summary: Understand Geometric Tolerancing Was reading the new rev. of the ARINC 600 Spec. Used a co-workers copy of of Geo-Metrics III to figure out a tolerance note I wasn't sure of. This book has the clearest descriptions of Geometric tolerancing with detail showing how to read and apply notes I have ever seen. I immediately copied the title pape so I could get my own copy. By the way, I am an electro-mechanical engineer. Summary: Probably the best available Foster presents essentially all of the basics required for understanding GD&T. I've taken associated training courses using Geo-Metrics II and III and found the books to be excellent reference materials. However, I found the text to be rather convoluted and boring. Coupled with the excellent graphics representations, one will come to an understanding of the principles. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Good book as foundation for medical microbiology students I used this as one of my required texts for my microbiology class in med school. It had very good sections on parasitology, viruses, etc. It was fun learning the what parasites are endemic to certain regions of the world and what symptoms they cause. I was used the following: Microbiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers by Patrick Leonardi. This second book was great because it was thorough in the aspects of test preparation in these various ways: it helped me prepare for the type of questions asked by my microbiology professor. In this way when I was studying I knew which facts to study harder and to know better. I easily got in the top 1% of my medical microbiology in grades with the help of these two books. I give each book five stars. Summary: Too much information This book offers a very comprehensive look at microbiology and virology (with some immunology and parasitology thrown in); unfortunately, that's not a good thing if you're trying to study from it. The chapters are full of information on lab values and other minutiae that will be of interest to only those who make a living in the field. Otherwise, you'll have to search hard to pick out the relevant details that are worth remembering. There are definitely better, easier to use books on the market than this one Summary: Its a modern and exact book This edition have news about micobiology. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 3 Reviews: Summary: An excellent book, but the price is way too high. This is a thorough and well-written survey of drinking water disinfectants, their use, applicability, and chemistry. It is up-to-date and otherwise would be a 5-star book. However, the price makes it unaffordable for many who should have access to it. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: So many maps, so little time I ordered this for my 5 year old daughter because the price was right. But, I was happily surprised by how thorough and lovely the pictures are. The beginning of the book contains a comprehensive section on how to read maps, and explains how a map can represent different information (climate, politics, terrain). Each continent also had photographs of the people, and natural formations that are identified with it. That was nice! But, all cannot be perfect alas. Many of the maps span two pages, to make it larger I presume. However, and this is REALLY annoying, you cannot see what is in the crease between the two pages! The United States is missing parts of it, Africa is bisected at the Congo. I would rather Nat'l Geographic had made each map a fold-out. I guess there would have been a chance that it would eventually get ripped out, but at least you can see the whole area being shown. Summary: Beautiful! This is a wonderful atlas, great for a beginner but the adults are enjoying it too. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Original, innovating and refreshing Thai historian Thongchai Winichakul's account of a critical period in Thai history pairs an originalap proach with thorough academic research. As the subtitle `a History of the Geo-Body of a Nation' already suggests, the book deals with the crucial episode of the formation of Thailand as a nation-state. Inspired by Imagined Communities, Benedict Anderson's seminal work on nationalism, the author explains in his introduction that he intends to focus his analysis on a by historians much neglected aspect of the spatio-temporal category: geography. Taking the traditional Buddhist worldview as a starting point, he describes how 19th Century Siam, as Thailand was then called, had to come to terms with the many alien concepts considered commonplace in the science of modern geography. Many of these concepts were to have important political implications. Deriving its political system from the Buddhist `Mandala model', the Siamese initially had great difficulies coping with the elementary aspects of political geography. Boundaries and more in particular border demarcations were, if not unknown altogether, considered of minor or no importance in the political view of the traditional ruling class. The Siamese were perfectly at ease in dealing with often illdefined and fluid spheres of influence, frontiers and the `thick lines' of the boundary regions separating the indigenous political entities of Southeast Asia. Likewise they saw no contradiction in the double sovereignty under which the territories at the `margins' of the regional kingdoms often fell. But the Siamese proved to be fast learners and Thonchai quickly dispels the myth that the Siamese were mere victims of or only innocent bystanders at the high political game that was played by the colonial powers in 19th Century Asia. Instead he contends that Siam was very conscious of what was at stake and was just as much a player as Britain or France. `Siam Mapped' is an innovating, provocative and very refreshing account of a very important phase in the history of Thailand. Already exercising its influence on the further course of research into the development of the Thai national-state, this book is a must-read for anyone with a serious interest in the history of Thailand or nationalism in general.
