No one had them, so I turned to the web for help. I found this book, ordered it, and was able to succesfully replace my squeaky brakes. This book can help you with almost any repair on your CR-V, and I highly recommend it rather than paying tons of money for the dealership to repair your car. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 1 Reviews: Summary: Bad Reference!! This book is chock full of errors. I don't have any faith in the contents of this book. Color codes of wires are incorrect in troubleshooting areas, and there is poor coverage of all model years, especially newer ones. The book tells you what fault codes are but it does not tell you how to access them. I own two Hondas and I end up using the internet to get the information this book, more often than not, neglects to include. Purchase at your own risk -- it's too bad that it is the only book on the market for many Honda models. Summary: Better than Hays This is a fair book. Deffinatly better than Hays. Where hays explanes things in one sentence Chilton uses an entire paragraph. However it does not contain all the diagnosis I wanted and it is plagued with misprints and occasionaly contridicts itself. Summary: Poor graphics, lack of detail, poor coverage of all models. This was disappointing. The "Total Car Care" repair manual had non-detailed drawings instead of photos leaving you with only a vague idea of where the part that you are looking for is in relation to the rest of your car. The text was about as good as the graphics... it could have been more detailed and/or descriptive. Another probelm was that the graphics gave only a single example of the procedure being described (as shown for the '84-'87 CRX... not very helpful to orient you to a 95 Civic). Compared to the other manuals that I have seen (Haynes and Clymer mostly) this one left alot to be desired at about twice the price. This one will give you a ballpark idea of what you will need to do to fix your Honda, but I would consider purchasing a single-model specific repair manual at a cheaper price. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 1 Reviews: Summary: Useless Do not buy this book. It has absolutely no detail and states only what you can already figure out using common sense. I wanted help replacing the carburetor on my 1989 Honda Accord. The book says to remove hoses, connections and loosen the mounting nuts and lift out the carburetor and then install the new carburetor the same way the old one was installed---that's it. No help with hose diagrams or information about how to disconnect or reconnect anything. Also, the carburetor won't just lift out---it is necessary to loosen the manifold to get the thing out. The book doesn't even mention that. As I said, the book is useless. I wouldn't have given it even one star, but I had no choice. Summary: awful confusing, no detail.... You cannot wirte a 276 pg book for 10 years worth of 2 different cars... There are no pictures and often little detail on what you are supposed to be looking at... Maybe a good, i mena good mechanic could use this book, but no one else... Summary: Has its moments and applications I own both the Chilton's manual and the service manual and I use them almost an equal amount when working on my '92 Accord. Yes, the Chilton's doesn't contain as much model-specific information as the service manual, but at times the service manual is too technical and difficult to follow. That's when I turn to the Chilton's manual. IMHO it's well worth the price. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 2 Reviews: Summary: very frustrating Disappointed with this & all Chilton car books. If you are a complete beginner , the explanations & pictures are not clear enough to make you feel comfortable. The descriptions are not clear & there is a need for a lot more & a lot clearer batch of pictures. They may work for you if you have some car knowledge but take time to read through them before you buy. I do not feel that I got my monies worth & wish that I had looked at other options. Summary: Helpful Information This book has saved me $$$ many times. Although it is not in depth as a Factory service manual. It is money well spent! Summary: Chilton's Honda Civic and Del Sol 1996-00 Repair Manual Adequate for simple repairs and a general understanding of the cars covered, Chilton manuals are a cheap alternative to buying the "real" shop manual. Unfortunately, for whatever the reason, they are fraught with errors and omissions. Wiring diagrams may not be correct, and often simple step by step instructions are unclear. I have had Chilton's manuals for several of the many cars that I have owned and I often swear at them more than I swear by them. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Probably the bible for repairing your Honda Rebel Having a slightly flakey Honda Rebel it became very important to me to be able to find my way around the bike. This manual is extremely informative and extremely accurate. It does detail just about everything you need to know. However for a relative neophyte such as myself it has some significant deficiencies: As I say, I don't think there is anything any better ... but this manual will be a little intimidating for a newbie ... Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: The best pick amongst similar books As I strive to gather as much practical information on Hondas and Acuras, I've purchased several books on the subject. Engine and Driveline Handbook (editors of SCC), Honda/Acura Performance (editors of SCC), Honda/Acura Performance Handbook 2nd edition (Mike Ancas), and of course Honda/Acura Engine Performance by Mike Kojima (whom happens to be an editor of SCC). Rating Mike Kojimas book was a tough choice between three and four stars but I'll get one thing out of the way first. It is the best value out of all of the books I've mentioned. Engine and Driveline Handbook is a compilation of SCC articles with color photos and has great general information and is thoroughly enjoyable to read. Honda/Acura Performance is another compilation but with black/white photos, is poorly written, and lacks useful technical information. The book by Mike Ancas (2nd edition) is well written, fun to read, has great color photos, and contains plenty of useful information. However it doesn't have any detailed info on tuning but rather it is more of a tip book telling you things like most intakes don't actually increase power so be careful with what you spend your money on. Finally there is Mike Kojimas book. Despite a lot of typos it is enjoyable to read but most importantly it has a wealth of detailed information ranging between a great explanation of how headers are tuned to use reflected sound waves to scavenge the exhaust and telling you what combinations of Honda factory parts will get you more performance while saving money on aftermarket parts. The downside to this book is that it is not a completely original book. Half of the chapters are SCC articles found in the Engine and Driveline book that have simply been added to with some more information. As for the other half of the chapters, it was my first time reading them but I wonder if they too have already been written somewhere else. But in the end if you have yet to pick up any of these books then I strongly recommend Honda/Acura Engine Performance by Mike Kojima for a wealth of info crammed into an enjoyable and short read at a good price. Summary: fascinating! As soon as I started reading this book i could not stop. The detail of how my motor actually works amazes me. I am excited to learn about the many possibilities of making my car a "rocket". Summary: honda/acura engine performance Great book, good details. If your looking to go turbo this is the book for you. Has many usefull and helpful hints. Great all around book. Could have added more in the n/a and hybrid sections. Other than that it was a great read. Summary: |
