Avg Cusomer Rating: 3 Reviews: Summary: Pales in comparison to the other 5. I was excited to get this book, and shelled out the money to buy it. I read a lot of it on the way home from Wal-Mart, and then the rest of it that very same night. That has been a long time ago now. Yes, it has been a while since it has came out. And yes, this review is a little late. So I will make it short. There are many things I liked about H-BP; some of the content was just impossible not to like. But as I read, I noticed that the characters seemed very distant. There was a certain lack of introspection throughout the entire book, which kind of bugged me. It was all 'action' and 'talking' but no 'feeling'. The kissing parts... were dragged out, and lagged the book down, to make it too sappy to ever come close to earning five stars from me. But I am not a huge fan of romance novels, so that is just my personal opinion. Yes, the book introduced a new angle to Harry Potter... and it did have a lot of twists and turns that I am still looking forward to see how they play out in the next book. But overall, The Half-blood Prince wasn't captivating, like the predecessors. Hopefully book seven will be better, and will shed new light on this one. Summary: from a kids point of view- LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT its so awesome. i was out of town when it came out. my cousin and i went at midnight, had a ball. we got the book and driving home we were reading the book with the mirror lights from the car, along with the headlight shadows. We didnt look a page ahead. at all. we didnt look to see how many pages their were. we didnt look at the chapter list. that gives it away. i was at his house for the night, and i was downstairs when my brother and he came down and grabbed my book so my bro could read my copy. i got it back. so anyways the next day all we did was eat and read. eat while reading that is. we didnt stop. it was so GOOD. not the food- the book. we finished it in 11 hours, and we wanted to read it again. the laughter, the tears, everthing!!!!!! a must read!!!!!! although if youre gonna read the seiries out of order DO NOT START WITH THIS ONE Summary: Sheer Drivel I was a Harry Potter fan up to this abomination of literature. It is shallow, boring, and far from thoroughly explained. A complete waste of money. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Beginning of a great series A great start to what's going to be one of the all time classic sagas of all time, and that's for EVERY book category in the world. Such a small book for most fantasy epics, and yet one of the greatest ever written. Funny thing is, I always thought what a number of people around the world thought: "Warlock magic is EVIL! Any person who reads it will be worshipers of Satan." Yeah, I stereotyped before I read. Thank a friend of mine who got me hooked on these mystical and absorbing books. I no longer think in the aspects of "SATAN WORSHIPERS!" for this series. It has good and evil pitted against each other as is the eternal struggle in our world. What attracted me the most was the fact that it was about a boy who lost his parents to a maniacal villain and he wants revenge. (Trust me, even though my parents are alive, I know what revenge feels like.) But, better than that, Potter becomes friends with people rejected like him. It is heartwarming when you make friends with people like you. And this is just the beginning. Who knows what young Potter and his friends will face in the future...only Rowling will tell... Summary: A kids point of view i remember when this book first came out. i tried reading it. i was 6. it was to hard. so i read it in third grade. it was WONDERFUL. the quidditch, the dursleys, the magic, the spells, voldemort, the train. it was a whole new world to me. an excellent world. a world that i would live in forever. It was so good. Then came the movie. I was in the audience opening day. then i read the second. enhancing. the the third. then i started going to the midnight things when the books first came out- as i got caought up. it was sooooooo good. Summary: A fun book, even for older readers Id heard of this series for a long time, never thinking Id ever read it since it was intended mainly for younger readers. Well, Im glad a friend gave me a copy thinking I might enjoy it. I definitely did. While this isnt my usual reading material, it reminded me a lot of a series I enjoyed as a child by Piers Anthony. Those books also revolved around a land ruled by magic. In the Potter series the land is replaced by a school, Hogwarts, but it's otherwise similar in style. Rawlings did a wonderful job of describing the terrible living conditions Harry had while living with his aunt and uncle and the thrill he experienced while first exploring his new life at Hogwarts. While it was fun reading this, people older than 14 might find some of it a little childish but, hey, the target for this series were children in the first place. Approach it in the right spirit and you'll have as much fun as I did. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Hardcover is the way to go These Hardcover books are definetly worth the price! Since these books are somewhat a legend, they will always be valuable. To get them in hardcover is the best way to keep the books in mint condition. Summary: Fantastic! Every single book has been an absolute joy to read! I love these books and there's just nothing that can compare!!! J. K Rowling is the best. I wish Harry Potter didnt have to end after the 7th book...I could keep reading these books forever! Summary: Why bother with a "boxed set"? I am with the other people who reviewed this item stating that it is kinda pointless to be releasing a boxed set for this series. I know for a fact that they have been doing this since at least book 4 and each time the next book comes out they are just making the box bigger. This is just a huge rip off for the people who buy "boxed sets" for the novelty of the box...once the next book comes out they basically have to just set it on the shelf next to the boxed set. Personally, I think that for the most part the idea of putting your books in a box like this is kinda stupid anyway...I prefer to have mine individual on the shelves. I am not opposed to the idea of releasing them in nice slipcases though...anyway I'll quit my rambling. Lets just end it at this, if you are absolutely one of those peeps who need the box set, wait until the last book comes out and buy it then. The one star here is for the boxed set, not the individual books, which are all brilliant. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Great! But could have done with some editing... This is the book where we get to see Harry actually begin to mature past being just a young little lad. We get to see inside the mind of Harry more than ever... and get to feel what he feels in the situations that he is forced into. Parts of it are really angsty. But in my opinion, it never gets to the point of being annoying. Some people complain about it, but I say that it is necessary, in order to continue showing that Harry is changing with each book, and is going through new things that alter his personality. In this book, we get described to us what the Ministry of Magic is like, and Harry makes two visits there; both times are exciting to read about, and I could scarcely put the book down. A new character worth remembering is a well-liked one among fans. Luna Lovegood. Whether you love her, or love to hate her, she is definitely a character that keeps the story interesting when it threatens to lag. My only real complaint, is that this book could have used some editing. It is a little too long, and a little too drawn out. There are probably a couple of chapters that could be left out altogether, for that matter. Join Harry, Ron, and Hermione, on their greatest journey to date. This book is worth the money. Summary: Great sequel! This book is better than #4! I loved the fact that Harry is finally becoming quite the jerky and typical teenager to not just his enemies but also to his friends. This is a normal fact of life, and it's finally happening to the famous Harry Potter. There is also the fact that he found his father not to be the "saint" that he thought he was (besides sneaking out of school). If Harry's parents were perfect, that would be quite boring. Thanks, Rowling. The plot of the story was the only thing that was the problem. It was too...uneventful, although there were good sequences of events before the final showdown in the book. It had a great ending that left me wanting to read that sixth book right then. Summary: fab for a long trip We listened to the first part of the book on a long trip. We loved the voices and it really came alive for us (even though we had all read the book). Because it is so long, we have several discs left to listen to. It is a two night a week ritual to listen as a family for an hour. I highly recommend this audio book. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Better than the first Satisfying, I must say. Indeed, I liked it better than the first, and I liked the first a lot. Spellbinding, witty, and occasionally realistic. What the problem was with this book was the stereotypical "hero might actually be bad" thing. And then the "oh, I'm sorry I accused you" thing. However, this shows some foreshadowing for the next few books. That was the flip-side of the stereotype. Well done. All in all, worth the time. Want that next book. Summary: Great Book! I must confess that as an adult I too have become addicted to the series. As a Christian, I was somewhat concerned about the magical elements at first. However, after reading the series, I find the "magical" episodes so silly that I consider it no more harmful to the children in my life than a fantasy cartoon. A fun book to read to your children! Summary: It was ok!!! I recommend this book but not so much because it has many things that aren't so interesting. This book is not so interesting because it doesn't really surprise me every thing is given away in this book you can tell what is going to happen next. I think it could have been better. It could have been better by not telling us almost everything. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Went down a bit... OK. This was a great book with plenty of action, intrigue, and plot. Those were the good aspects. Now for the one bad aspect. I, though not a professional writer, do write in my spare time, and I also read a great deal of fantasy books, including Tolkien, Donaldson, and Martin. This book was not well written in the sense of the physical aspect of the writing, especially since this series is getting more adult with every book. I believe Rowling could have written this better for the masses of Harry Potter fans. However, this had a great storyline and my critical opinion should not sway you from reading this fantastic adventure. Summary: The Turning point of the series This is the book that changed the series from a child's series to a teenage and even adult series. One can see that this book and the volumes after it are conciderably more dark than the first three. dont get me wrong the first three books are very necessary for the series but this book is crucial because it starts what the remaining books are about. which is how the wizarding world deals with the resurgence of Voldemort nad his death eaters. Truly we see the three main characters grow in terms of their maturity as tennagers. This book is crucial to the series and in some cases the best or second best in the series. I highly recommend it for those who have read the three books before it. But, do not read it if you have not read the three books before it. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 1 Reviews: Summary: Harry Potter sucks Harry Potter is the gayest book series, what's the big deal. I don't hate books because I am not someone who tries to be cool and hates books because they are afraid of what some bully with no life says (but I don't read books, because they don't really do anything but bore you, magazines are better). This book is nothing special, Harry Potter nerds really piss me off, who wears a cape and a wand and acts like a short nerd who rides a broom? These books are nothing intersesting. JK Rowling can write better than me, but J.K, I don't like your series, so sue me! Harry Potter is yet another overrated pile of s hit in the world, along with Back In Black, Friends, and Kurt Cobian. F uck this series. Summary: Harry Potter books are a wonderful gift, or read them yourself. I have read all the Harry Potter books out so far, 1-6, and truly enjoyed them all. I bought the boxed set to give one book at time to my granddaughters, as we read them together over the phone. This is a wonderful way to establish a relationship with a child you don't see often. We read almost every day and then talk about what we've read. I am currently reading with four grandchildren and they just love the story and love reading with me. They can't wait to see what happens next! Hopefully, they will always remember reading Harry Potter with grandmom, and then read with their own children as they get older. Summary: Harry Potter 1 thru 5 Positively marvelous reading for children or adults. I got hooked on the first five pages and haven't stopped yet. Summary: |
