Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Clear and Comprehensive I usually dreaded logic games like the ones that appear in the LSAT. While some of the questions were generally straightfoward, there were some that I just couldn't get or would eventually get after spending great quantities of energy and time -- which is a definite no-no on the LSAT. I bought the Logic Games Bible because I wasn't impressed with Kaplan's review materials, and I wasn't going to waste my money on actual classes. After only a few weeks of careful review, the logic games became clearer. I began to solve them faster and with greater accuracy. I scored perfectly on the LSAT logic games section after using onyl this book. This is a definite buy for anyone who struggles with logic games. Powerscore takes you step-by-step to not only set up the games but also to teach what inferences can be drawn from certain game rules. Like most learning, once you see Powerscore set up a problem or draw and inference, that knowledge stays with you. Highly recommended. Summary: Not Very Helpful I bought this book as well as the Powerscore Logical Reasoning Bible. The Logical Reasoning Bible was excellent and extremely helpful. On the LSAT I took, I got most of the Logical Reasoning questions correct. However, I found that the game book did not nearly prepare me enough for the LSAT. When I was in the test, I could not figure out any of the games and guessed at all 22 questions. Had I done better on this section, I would have scored really well on the test. I would suggest either supplementing this book with another book, or researching and purchasing an entirely different book. Summary: Very helpfulLSAT prep book For most people, the "Logic Games" section of the LSAT is the hardest. This book will make that section a lot easier. The strategies and techniques in this book completely changed the way I answered Logic Games questions, and it helped my score a lot. I would recommend this book to anyone taking the LSAT, especially those intimidated by the Logic Games. Even if you think you have that section nailed down, give this book a try, you may do even better! Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Great LSAT Prep This book seperates all LSAT Logical Reasoning Questions into 18 different types. They tell you what the question stem for each type looks like so you can identify it quickly and effectively use their Powerscore strategy. The book also uses REAL LSAT questions, which most other test-prep books does (which accounts for the high price - just a tidbit of advice, buy it well in advance of the October LSAT, the prices increases about 15 dollars in July). I'm a pretty organized person, so the divide-and-conquer method worked for me beautifully. It also helped me grasp some formal logic strategies for the LSAT, especially helpful since i never took formal logic before. This is the most comphrensive and helpful book out there about Logical Reasoning which is 50% your score on the LSAT, so there's no foolin' around here. Summary: Buy it Now There is nothing better on the market in terms of breaking down each question type in the logical reasoning sections. Not only does the author identify typical correct anwers types but also walks you through incorrect answer types. The author arms you with question specific strategies that both enhance your speed and accuracy. (My score jumped from the high 150's to consistently scoring in the high 160's.) Give yourself plenty of time to carefully go through this book and you won't regret it. Summary: LOOKING FOR SOMEWHERE TO START! I BEGAN STUDYING FOR THE LSAT AND WAS REALLY CONFUSED BY THE LOGICAL REASONING SECTION. I WAS THINKING I AM A VERY BRIGHT PERSON AND I DO PRETTY WELL ON MULTIPLE CHOICE TEST, BUT THE LSAT WAS ANOTHER THING. I WAS CONFUSED. I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE QUESTIONS AND I JUST WANTED TO GIVE UP. I READ SEVERAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE POWERSCORE BOOKS AND I DECIDED TO PURCHASE. I AM GLAD I DID. THIS BOOK HAS HELPED ME TO UNDERSTAND AND SEE THE COMMON MISTAKES I WAS MAKING AND LEARNED FROM THEM. I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU PURCHASE THIS BOOK. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Highly Useful LSAT Prep Book This book has some of the most cogent/coherent explanations and general overview of question types that LSAC has ever produced. The explanations are top quality and the overview is good. The overview reviews some previous LSAT questions and discusses each of the three question types. It totals 40-50 pages of information. The PrepTests are all February tests, which are not disclosed to test takers and seem to feel different than other LSATs. The explanations are thorough and have some good, general tips on questions. The book is a little pricey for getting 3 preptests but is worthwhile, especially early on when you're having trouble understanding why you got a question wrong. Be aware that the book doesn't yield much in the way of really deep strategy work. You'll need to go to one of the prep companies' books for that kind of insight into the LSAT. The book contains: SuperPrep A; February 1996 SuperPrep C; February 1999 SuperPrep B; February 2000 Summary: Good book for what it is, wel worth buying This book is put out by the LSAC, so it doesn't give you all the tips and tricks you would find in another publication, say Poerscore's LR Bible or AR Bible, but it's still helpful b/c it contains real LSAT questions, answers, and an explanation for each answer. It also provides a good overview of the LSAT and gernal info. concerning the test. Good purchase for LSAT prep, though don't let it be the only book you buy. Get those Powerscore "Bibles" and lots of LSAT prep-tests too. Summary: A valuable stuff for knowing the perspectives of LSAC on LSAT A very good review material that reveals the logical thinking and definitions behind the LSAC staff. It even tells the strategy on how to crack some questions more quickly. It widens the ways of thinking. But a bit pity is the leaves get easily fallen with your reading going forward. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Beware of powerscore A must have for the Lsat. If your thinking of buying the powerscore books. be wary, they will skew every practice test you take because they use real lsat questions from the very practice tests you must take to be ready for the test. My advice is to use the powerscore techniques but avoid answering any of the lsat questions in the books so you can evaluate yourself properly with the official lsat preptests. Summary: LSAT Preparation - #2 most important set of tests you'll buy If you only take 10 PrepTests before the real LSAT, these shouldn't be the tests you take. Get the newest tests you can beginning with PrepTest 39. They aren't yet sold in a book, so you'll be buying individual test booklets. If you have time to finish all of those then add this book. It contains modern LSATs (post December 1995). Even though the tests are newer you'll still notice some slight variation between these tests and the real LSAT you'll take. That said, it's an excellent study aid, it's cost effective, and it's easier to order than a bunch of seperate tests. This book contains: PrepTest 29; October 1999 PrepTest 30; December 1999 PrepTest 31; June 2000 PrepTest 32; October 2000 PrepTest 33; December 2000 PrepTest 34; June 2001 PrepTest 35; October 2001 PrepTest 36; December 2001 PrepTest 37; June 2002 PrepTest 38; October 2002 Summary: Essential to Preparation The book contains the newest tests released and is a definite necessity to studying for the LSAT. Although it does not contain answer explanations, it is great practice to take as many of these as possible before the real thing. I used them in addition to a more in-depth studying tool and found that together I had great preparation and was totally relaxed and ready on test day. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 3 Reviews: Summary: Mediocre LSAT Study Aid This book could be a lot stronger. The answers are not visually appealing, the games are laid out in ridiculous ways, there are numerous typos, the authors resort to explanations that amount to "just because", and I have found reasoning flaws in some of their explanations of why an answer is correct. You might be wasting money on the book, but there isn't another option out there. GetPrepped's explanations in this book are of the same caliber as what I've seen of Kaplan and possibly Princeton Review. The explanations are also surpassed by GetPrepped's next attempt at explanations: 'LSAT Explained: Unofficial Explanations for "The Next 10 LSAT PrepTests"' If you get this book you'll want to try to figure out why you got a question wrong before you turn towards "Answers" for explanations; even then the explanations may not be completely helpful. Personally, I wouldn't want my understanding of the LSAT or the individual questions to hinge on this books but it is a mediocre supplement for thinking in greater depth and getting another perspective on the questions. Summary: good for arguments and reading, but not necessarily games This book is pretty helpful in terms of discovering what you did wrong - unless it's in the games section. The diagrams that this book creates are unrealistic in my opinion because they take up too much space and also they are difficult to follow. They look like something done in a word processor, so they aren't aesthetically pleasing, but also, more importantly, they're not great at organizing lots of information. There are crazy lines and arrows all over the place that are supposed to show flow of logic, but I don't see it. There are just too many and it's difficult to discertain which arrow came first. Princeton Review did a good job explaining games and how to diagram. I wish they made an answers book. Because then I would understand what I did wrong. But this book gets 3 stars nonetheless because it was helpful for the other sections. Summary: As expected Friendly notification of item sent, and quick delivery! Item as described. A highly recommended seller! Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Best Resource Available for Logic Game Prep I can recommend Big Fat Genius (BFG) as the finest LSAT logic games prep book bar none. I had purchased and spent many hours working through the Powerscore Logic Games Bible before I found the BFG guide, and I'm glad I did because the BFG guide is far superior. Compared to the Powerscore method, the BFG guide is simple and effective. Powerscore tries to teach you how to arrive at the correct answer, which is great as a mental exercise, but is an inefficient approach for the time constraints of the LSAT (at least for me). The BFG approach is to eliminate wrong answers which is much easier, faster, and more accurate. Summary: A worthwhile purchase I have really enjoyed studying with this book! Unlike most others, with techniques for logic games that are easier to understand, and this is very well written! I would recommend it to anyone struggling with logic games, especially if they are struggling through other books without much luck. Summary: Many roads to the same place, but START HERE. The reviews clearly show two strongly opinionated camps about the usefulness of this book. The reviewers either loved it or hated it. I can see why and I will address that later on in this review. This book is a strategy guide for the most challenging part of the LSAT - The Analytical Reasoning or Logic Games. What makes the logic games so difficult for most of us are their unfamiliarity, and the absurdly tight time limit of about 1:30 per question. This book goes to the heart of both of these issues. There are straightforward strategies that maximize one's use of time, and a friendly and clear conversational tone, that eases one's anxiety about this section of the test. One has the feeling that the author has tutored many students and has seen every problem that his students create for themselves. The author goes to great pains to instill useful habits in the reader. He explains why these habits are the best ones and he repeats them over and over like a good tutor should. And each answer choice is then fully explained in much more detail than found in most LSAT prep books. The negative reviews are mostly from those who feel strongly about using deductions. Deductions are a commonly taught method at LSAT prep courses. They involve combining rules to figure out the missing pieces of a game before even looking at the questions. The author does not say to avoid deductions completely, nor to ignore them when they come easily, but rather to allow the deductions to unfold during the game. Rather than using precious time at the beginning to set up a complete diagram of all the possibilities, the author, in a very zen fashion, encourages us to look carefully at the questions and the answer choices, and the deductions will arrive on their own. Your best strategy, it seems to me, is to start studying early, and give yourself time to try a few different strategies. Find the one that works best for you. I will wholeheartedly say that, in terms of the logic games, for me this system far outweighs the others in its simplicity, directness, and effectiveness and I will certainly recommend it to others. In any event, one should not rely on only one book to prepare for this tri-athalon of an exam, and the real key is to take as many tests as you can handle - under strictly timed conditions. I would recommend this book as the FIRST book to read though, as I found that the good habits the author imparts and certain organizing strategies that he teaches are easier to get used to at the beginning of one's test preparation. Then, of course, one can decide if (and when) using deductions are helpful or not. As a final note of interest: There are many strategies offered as downloads on-line from private tutors or businesses. Be wary - Grammatix, for example, has an alluring website, but after paying for a hard copy of their "method," they only gave me a PDF version. And they will not respond to my numerous E-mails. Anyway, the strategy they sell is basically re-warmed information from the LSAC (as found in books like The Official LSAT Superprep), and filler - nothing really useful that can't be found elsewhere.
