Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Not her best novel, probably, but I still couldn't put the book down... I read all four stories over four days and I will agree that these are not her best, but still I laugh and I cried and I gasped out loud and was generally entertained. From the moment I started reading I could not put the book down and I found myself transported to royal Cordina were a family loves one another and finds love and passion while fighting terriorists. Still liked it a lot. Summary: Two Stars-Spoilers follow After being disappointed in reading Gabriella & Alexander, I still tried Bennett & Camilla and was still disappointed. Once again there was a lot of things happen but it felt like they were trying to destract you from the charactors. I didn't like Bennett at all. Starting with his name and it went down from there. His treatment of Hannah after learning her true idenity comented my hate. I wished Hannah would have stabbed him with a knife. I did however enjoy Hannah thoroughly all of her working with the terrorities in order to bring them down was very exciting. It would have been fun to see series on Hannah's work. Now on to Camilla. Camilla was not a very exciting charactor she was very dull. Her beau Delaney was all right until he got all hung up on her lying about being a princess when he was lying about his own title. Its calling the kettle black and makes me lose all respect and like for the charactor. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Fifty years of fun. It's nice to see a book of coffee-table proportions just devoted to cartoons, well why not? Previous Playboy books have covered the history of the magazine, the delightful Playmates and now the cartoons. The 450 plus illustrations are the work of 107 cartoonists and if you are a regular reader of the magazine you'll see your favorites. Gahan Wilson has the most (thirty-two) followed by regulars like Eldon Dedini, John Demsey, Alden Erikson, Kiraz, Roy Raymonde, Doug Sneyd (he of the flamboyant signature, which I was never able to decipher until now) Erich Sokol and between these, dozens of great artists who have maybe one or two works each. The humor might not be the wonderful ironic style of the New Yorker but it is amazing how many fresh takes can be created with the bachelor lifestyle.
This is a handsomely produced book, printed on thick glossy paper which, nicely, allows you to really appreciate just how good some of these artists are. My favorite, Jack Davis, unfortunately only has four shown, Richard Taylor has a super picture on page ten, an art gallery where he has created several Picasso type paintings, Doug Sneyd, Phil Interlandi and Dedini are all brilliant draughtsmen and Shel Silverstein can create so much with so little line and color.
However I was a bit disappointed with this book, as another reviewer has commented, there is no indication of when the cartoons appeared and I wish the publishers had gone the extra mile and perhaps devoted some space throughout the pages for a photo and biography of the regulars, some of these guys have been with Playboy for years. Someone though, at least, did have the foresight to compile an Artists index and a useful Order of appearance list, both of which are in the back pages. Clearly a wonderful book for the bedside table if your date didn't turn up, try laughing yourself to sleep. Summary: Not enough Yeagle !!!! I enjoyed seeing the work of some of my favorite cartoon artist...together in one book. Some I had forgotten about. It cetainly must have been difficult to narrow down the selection with so many great cartoons over the years. However, I was disappointed not to see more of one of my very favorites.....Dean Yeagle. There is one cartoon of his in the book...and it is also on the cover...the showgirls and earrings cartoon. Mr.Yeagle does excellent work....just check out his website.. www.bellefree.com.....His Mandy pinup girl is adorable! I would love to see an all Dean Yeagle book published !!!!!! Summary: nice book, but... First of all this book is printed on excellent paper & is well done except for one thing. there is no way to tell what year the cartoons are from. They should have had chapters. 1950`s 1960`s ect so you know what era they are from Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 3 Reviews: Summary: Second n the Chandler trilogy Officer Rick Chandler will do anything to avoid his mother's matchmaking schemes. As well as those of the well meaning townspeople, who seem to want this divorced man hooked up again. When he rescues a runaway bride fleeing from her wedding, he hatches an ingenious plan - he has Kendall Sutton pose as his intended to keep the rest of the single ladies who constantly resort to placing erroneous 911 calls to get his attention at bay. She agrees, as it will keep her off the meat market as well. Of course neither counts on falling for the other. Phillips follow up to "The Bachelor" is actually more lightweight than the first offering, with an incredible lack of depth and undeveloped characters. But there is plenty of steam to keep the reader turning the pages, and Phillips infuses some pretty funny situations into this installment (the scene in the beauty shop is hysterical). Summary: A fun read... This book was my first experience with reading Carly Phillips. I didn't realize it was the second in the trilogy about the brothers until a little ways in and I didn't want to stop reading by then just to get the first book out of the way before reading onward! The book it pretty predictable, like most chick lit at this level, but I was pleased with the quick read and will be checking out the other works by this author. I felt that the characters were well-developed and quite witty in some cases. They displayed emotion and "realness" - a nice treat! The plot was beyond basic and did include some fun twists. I do recommend this book. I made me laugh several times and I look forward to reading about the other brothers and their searches for true love! Summary: Second Book of the Chandler Brothers trilogy `The Playboy' by Carly Phillips is the second book of the Chandler Brothers trilogy. This tells the story of police chief and run-away bride. The sub-plot of his mother who fakes a heart problem so all her sons will marry has some fun twist. The Chandler Brothers trilogy is Bachelor (1), Playboy (2) and Heartbreaker (3). Summary: |

| Playground: A Childhood Lost Inside the Playboy Mansion

| ISBN: 0060761563 List Price: $24.95 Amazon Price: $15.72 Usually ships in 24 hours |
Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: A fun glimpse inside the mansion world Althought this book is about a girl who "grows up" at the mansion, it is more of a story of how poor parenting combined with a playboy mansion type environment can have a lasting impact on the development of a young girl. Yes, you will get a taste of what life and times are like at the mansion, but this is far from a documentary on the playboy mansion. Yes, this book could be added to the pile of cliche "look at me I had a rough childhood and survived..." books that are out there, but due to the excitement that comes with having Hef and a few playmates included every few pages this book is far from a cliche and is an enjoyable read for someone looking to enjoy a story about a girl who got to see inside the walls of a place most only imagine of ever visiting. This book is also well written and does a good job of keeping you excited and wanting to read more. Great job Jennifer, and thanks for sharing your story. I enjoyed it. Summary: Underwhelming This book was underwhelming for 2 reasons. #1. No pictures. "Childhood Lost" is the kind of memoir that cries out for an 8-page photo insert. Let's see the author at 6 years old when she starts her book. Along with some shots of the masterful dad she talks so much about. And a picture of the Playboy mansion, where she spent so much time. And the group shot of those bunnies she spreads over so many pages. Where is ANYTHING more visual than the printed page? To help make this book real. #2. How about bringing it up to date? Published in 2005, "Lost" is not at all current, at least not according to the internet where one can find that Dr. Dad lost his doctor's license, and his 40-year-or-so friendship with Hugh Hefner, over an incident involving something sexual with a young girl. Would have made a colorful chapter, But no. Not mentioned. Is Jennifer waiting for book 2? Summary: WOW!! I couldn't put this down until I was done!! This book was so good I read it all in a few hours and couldn't put it down! From the very first page I was hooked and couldn't wait to get to the next page. Living in L.A. myself for a 6 years, I can see how this could happen. After getting married and finding out I was pregnant,we moved from L.A. asap!! That is no place to raise a family and I'm not suprised Jennifer's life happened this way. I did feel sad for her though, especially since I have a little girl and could never wish Jennifers's life on any little girl.I have also been to the Playboy Mansion and could not imagine being a little girl and being there. I happily traded my own crazy L.A. life for a much better life in "Familyville U.S.A" complete with husband,2 kids, a dog and a cat. Jennifer, I hope you also one day,get to see how wonderful a "normal" life can be! My heart and many hugs go out to you!!. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 1 Reviews: Summary: not much The pictures in this book are too small. Another problem is there are very few pictures that could be described as modern. The pictures are quite dated and the older hairstyles and makeup turn this book into a vintage photo collection, even though that's not what it's really billed as. Very disappointing, overall. Summary: Wonderful Redheads This is a must for all you redhead fans out there, I just hope James R. Peterson brings out a new edition from 80's till now, with great pictures of these lovely redheads like this one had, I know I'll buy it. Avg Cusomer Rating: 3 Reviews: Summary: A great addition to a bar but not for reasons you'd think... Recently I got a job as a bartender, so I thought maybe I would do some reading, I picked up Playboy's Bartender's Guide, thinking well Hugh knows how to throw a party so it must be a killer book. And it is, to ya know, have displayed on a shelf behind your bar, or maybe look up some drink recipes. But as far as reading it goes... WAY to upper class for most people to enjoy, I mean, who wants to feel inferior because they don't serve champange at bachelor parties or because pate fois grois or however you spell goose liver in french doesnt make it onto the snack platter on a regular basis. It is a very interesting and informative book, but it wont apply to the majority of the worlds wannabe bartenders/party throwers/booze lovers. But do pick it up, cause ya never know, you may decide that oxtail soup is the perfect addition to your super bowl party but only if its served with some imported beer from a country you've never heard of... like c'mon who drinks Budwiser anyways... Summary: An appealing bartender's guide to mixed drinks A sturdy, handsome leatherette cover with a reader's ribbon inside makes for an appealing bartender's guide to mixed drinks providing an unusually comprehensive reference. Here are local and famous mixed drinks organized alphabetically by title for quick bartender reference. If only one such guide were to be included in a discriminating library, the Playboy Bartender's Guide should be the item of choice. Summary: A must have This is a nice compilation of drinks. The book features all the necessary information on glasses, trimmings, mixing and even party-planning. This book is suited to both the professional mixologist as well as the simple social drinker looking for some new ideas. Summary: |
