Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Another good one from Crist. Steven Crist, Exotic Betting: How to Make the Multihorse, Multirace Bets that Win Racing's Biggest Payoffs (DRF Press, 2006) There are a whole lot of books out there about how to select winning horses. There are very few about how to responsibly bet them. (Offhand, I can only think of two authors who have covered this subject in any detail-- Mark Cramer and Barry Meadow.) Steve Crist dives into that water with Exotic Betting. As the title suggests, he focuses on exotic bets. While those who have been reading Crist in column form for years aren't likely to find much in here they haven't already seen, it's nice to have all of this stuff collected into one volume. Horse grading, syndicates, main and backup tickets, all the stuff he's been telling us about forever in one book. A handy reference manual, as it were. *** ½ Summary: The Most Important Horseplaying Book in 30 Years If you've ever picked nearly 37% winners over three months, or picked nine in a row, including a 15-1 shot, and still have gone home stooping for tickets in your Hanes, this book is for you. Wise, relentlessly tested,"Exotic Betting" has an almost Buddhistic approach to thoroughbred wagering: Lose the ego, the King-of-the-Handicappers mentality, allow yourself to be wrong in the right spots and then bam, you're on your way. Not since Andrew Beyer's "Picking Winners" 30 years ago has a book given horseplayers more hope. An obvious must. Summary: |

Publisher: Rodale Books |

| ISBN: 1579542700 List Price: $15.95 Amazon Price: $10.37 Usually ships in 24 hours |
Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: A "must have" for every cyclist Lance's name and picture on the book's cover has the major selling appeal. However, it's also the book's drawback. Why? The book says that "inside you find the exercises, ridind schedules, endurance builders, and mental tricks that brought Lance back to the pinnacle of cycling". Sorry, but you will not find this in the book. The book is obviously written by Chris Charmichal, not Lance. You will find in the book every aspect of cycling a beginner should know. An expert that lacks training discipline will also find the book very usefull. But as mentioned before, you will not find Lance's training regiment to win Tour the France. If the book have had the following title, "The Chris Carmichael Performance Program for Cyclists", it should have earned 5 stars. As a "Lance Armstrong Performance Program", it earns just 4. Summary: addicted to cycling this is a fabulous training guide for anyone who is addicted to cycling ... who needs a runner's high when they can spin/cycle? the drills included in the boook are amazing. great book. Summary: Lots of information Love this book!! Tells you alot of stuff you need to know if you are a beginner in the bike world. I reread parts of it alot and know it will be checked many times again for its valuable information. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Excellent Source of Vehicle Dynamic Information Milliken lays down the fundamentals and advanced topic of vehicle dynamics as applied to racecars. The text is not for beginning or nontechnical readers in the slightest manner. Milliken points out many subtle and difficult areas to understand, which take hours of studying to fully grasp. For those seriously considering a career in this field or to the extremely interested reader, this text is the source of information. Summary: A good reference work A very informative book on the engineering fundementals, it would be good if a second edition with more mordern race vehicles was in the works. Summary: the best book out there for race car design topics I am a mechanical engineer. I am very into my hobby of race cars. I have a stack of books on chassis, suspnsion and overall race car design. This book is by far the best and most comprehensive of them all. I have benefited more from this book than any of the others. I will def be purchasing the work book to go along with this. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Stone Fox I really liked this book. My favorite part was during the Race when Stone Fox was in last place and he came up right next to Little Willy. I thought the Ending was very sad because Searchlight died. Summary: Stone fox I loved the stone fox the book it had sad parts and happy parts but the thing i liked the best was the race and how stone fox was a Indian. I also liked how at the end stone fox was nice to little Willy. Summary: This is way too sad for kids. This may be the type of review for 13 and under kids, but I didn't have the time to go through the whole process for an adult review. I happen to be 15, but who cares? It's not like the system will collapse upon itself, or anything. Okay. This is a good book. It has a very good, if depressing, storyline. However, this book is too sad for kids in the 3rd, 4th or 5th grade to be reading. I read this book too, when I was around there. I thought it was great, but...why do all of the Newberry Award books involve something precious to the main character dying? And why is it almost always a dog? Some other books like it are Sounder and Where The Red Fern Grows. I used to have my mom read books for school with me, and she cried when she read it. I hope that people will give better books to these kids, like A Samurai's Tale. THAT'S a good book. If people want to keep their kids' childlike innocence so badly, why don't they do something other than blame things that have nothing to do with the problem? *cough*videogames*cough* Their kids will go emo when they read this stuff. If you don't know what "emo" is, ask a teenager. They're very smart sometimes, and not the epitome of irresponsibility that some people *cough*adults*cough* make them out to be. Avg Cusomer Rating: 1 Reviews: Summary: Stuck on stupid I don't know if Bob Roll thinks it is still funny after all these years to say "Tour DAY France" or if he is just stuck on stupid. Whatever the reason, I can not get over this imbecillity to have any further concern with whatever else might be sloshing around inside his skull. Summary: Bob Roll is awesome I'm going to be at every stage of this year's Tour de France, but I'll admit I'm a bit disapointed that I won't get to watch the OLN coverage with Roll's commentary. My 'disappointment' will only be allayed if I get to meet him at one of the stages. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is remotely interested in cycling. Roll is entertaining as always! Summary: Bobke is witty, sometimes way out there, but that's just Bobke! If you know who Bob Roll is and appreciate his sense of humor then buy this book. If's you're read his columns in VeloNews, then buy this book! It gives you a glimpse of the reality of what some riders experience in Europe and it will give you new respect (or a lack of) for Bobke. Just buy the book and read it! Summary: |
