Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: De Facto Owners Guide This is an excellent book for a superior marque. All RR owners should give it a thorough read. Professor John W. Kercheval, III Georgetown Washington, DC Summary: A definitive corporate biography enhanced with period photos The Magic Of A Name: The Rolls-Royce Story is a fascinating and informative history of the first forty years of the internationally famous Rolls-Royce company, whose achievements were part and parcel of the technological advancements of the twentieth century. It was in 1904 that Henry Royce and Charles Rolls collaborate to build luxury cars for the rich. Then successfully engineered the "Silver Ghost" and launched one of the most successful car manufacturers of their day. The impact of both World Wars compelled the corporation to the cutting edge of aeronautical engines for such legendary aircraft as the Spitfire, Hurricane, and American Mustang. Peter Pugh draws upon his extensive researches with company archives to write a definitive history, enhanced with sections of period photographs. The Magic Of A Name is the superb biography of a great company. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Well presented, concise, imformative, & readable While not the largest reference on Rolls-Royce & Bentley, this book is one of the most pleasurable I've read on the subject. It is very well presented, concise, informative and readable. Beginning with the first Royce cars of 1904, the book continues chronologically through the 1996 models. I most enjoyed the sections on the Silver Ghost & those on the later models which are given equal coverage with the popular middle year cars. The numerous illustrations are very well selected. Especially nice are chassis line drawings for most models and many good interior photos. The color photo gallery in the center is beautiful. Another useful feature is a technical specification chart, including chassis numbers, for each series. If you would like to invest in just one book to tell the story of Rolls-Royce & Bentley, this would be an excellent choice. Summary: |
