Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Very nice book It is a comprehensive step by step book. I liked the fact that it also included alternative instructions for the instances when a Mac would have different commands. Summary: Good book, but not at all if you prepare for the exam The book was overall a good book with all what you need to know about Adobe Acrobat. I am preparing for the exam and the book does not cover 75% of the test. Unfortunately Adobe did not think of this and decided to make it very hard for us. Microsoft on the other hand has many books that cover the topics for their exams. Wish Adobe would learn that one thing from them.... Summary: Good book for beginners I found the tutorials easy to use and thought they taught how to use Acrobat very well. Some items may get repetitive if you have purchased other CS2 books, but I recommend it for anyone that purchases Adobe Acrobat CS2. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Huges Help with Acorbat 7.0 I have been using Acrobat for projects since version 3.0. I've also bought a number of books on all these versions. This particular book is one of the best because it gives a specific problem or situation and then gives you specific instructions. No generalizations, just instructions. I found this approach very helpful with a last minute project and can see where it would have so many useful applications. Even for an experienced user of Acrobat, I found lots of nifty shortcuts that will make my Acrobat life better. Summary: Not for the Beginner, Very Helpful for the Novice Adobe Acrobat is a powerful program, capable of many things. In this book 150 of the best of thest tips and tricks are described in clear and easy language and illustrations using primarily screen shots that clearly show what should be done. This approach serves as both a tutorial and a reference book as each tip can stand on its own. It makes sense to scan through the book looking at each tip briefly and then selecting the ones that can help you as you need it. The descriptions are well written, easy to follow and clearly explained in terms of their functionality. This is not exactly a beginners book as it presumes you are familar with the basic program and how to use it. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 2 Reviews: Summary: A Comprehensive Disappointment I don't know what's going on with this book. The prime difference between version 6 and version 7 is the inclusion of Adobe Lifecycle Designer. This book says virtually nothing on such an important area. It does little to address database connections. Unfortunately, there is no real reference for this program. It covers commenting and stuff like that, but overall it is a big heavy great looking book that has left me still struggling. Summary: Useless for Designer Forms I bought this specifically for information about using the new LiveCycle Designer application that comes with Acrobat Professional to create interactive PDF forms. All of the information in this book (Chapters 26-29) is wrong about that app--none of the dialog boxes match, or are even close, and the program doesn't work the way it's described. I'm guessing that Adobe changed it after the book was written. Summary: The Childrens Bible A bible for the inexperienced with acrobat.. If you have never opened up the program, than I could see how this might be considered a bible. Just like any childrens bible is compared to a regular bible. If you have any experience with acrobat, don't waiste your time. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Helped me polish my expertise I knew enough to do the basics, but not enough to take full advantage of the program. The book is a very helpful desk reference. I am not a professional, but I do make documents in publisher and work, as well as a few things in adobe illustrator. Now I know some tricks of the trade, and wondered why I never bought this earlier! Thanks. Summary: Has info. not available elsewhere. I got this book for my brother, who just bought Acrobat 7 Professional to create fillable forms with special functions. He tried and tried to do what he wanted, but until I gave him this book, he wasn't able to figure out how to do what he wanted to. This book had the specific information that taught him how to do what he wanted. I was amazed, because he even downloaded a huge amount of information from Adobe's Web site in his search for the right info. and couldn't get what he needed. I highly recommend this book for anyone who needs to do more than just the basics in Adobe Acrobat 7. Summary: Not for Macs This is not a bad book, but it's mistitled. It should be "How to Do Everything with Adobe Acrobat 7.0 for Windows." It ignores nearly all differences in the program and procedures for the Mac version, and nowhere does it warn you of this. Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: A good reference for basic techniques I was looking for some more advanced features than were offered, but it looks like it will be helpful to me moving forward. I build alot of forms in Adobe Acrobat. If you have never done javascript in Acrobat, or have intermediate knowledge, it may be a helpfull book for you. Summary: Great Book! I love this book! I am a professional graphic designer that does not know how to write any JavaScript. I just wanted to be able to create more dynamic pdf files. The author did a great job explaining the JavaScript used in this book in a way that non programmers can grasp! Mr. Deubert was also very gracious in helping me customize one of the scripts in his book to work for a specific project I had. He stands behind his product! I recommend this to anyone that is a non programmer looking to learn how to use JavaScript with Acrobat. Summary: A Great Step for Javascript Beginners I have been making forms in Acrobat since version 3.0, and have a background in Dbase III, Foxpro, Visual Basic .NET, and SQL 2000. However, I never learned Javascript formally or in-depth. This book was an excellent springboard to a good working knowledge of JavaScript, especially relating to Acrobat. The chapters are broken down by functionality and increase in complexity, and each has at least one project that the author will guide you step-by-step (you can download the PDF's from the author's website). The book was edited very well, I found only one mistake (a typo) after reading the book almost page for page. What makes this an outstanding book is the clarity of the examples and explanations the author has so obviously spent much time on to help us "poor newbies". My focus was how to get started interacting with databases (SQL or Access), and while the first Chapter (16) was review for people familiar with databases, Chapter 17 really got me started. The project in the book gives the basics -- to go beyond, you need the following resources: the Acrobat JavaScript Scripting Reference and the Scripting Guide (...). Developers know that the devil is in the detail, so once I got past the database interface hurdle, the other chapters were just as useful to put the necessary finishing touches on my project. Here's the bottom line: If you are already advanced in your knowledge of JavaScript, this isn't your book! You know enough to pick up the Acrobat JavaScript Reference and figure it out. If you're just starting out or need to know, in detail, what capabilities Acrobat and JavaScript can give you for an IT solution, this book is an excellent resource. One last thing that makes the author of the book outstanding: He has a free newsletter for those looking for better ways of utilizing Acrobat (...) Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Tells You Just What You Need to Know More and more courts are allowing, if not requiring, that documents of all type be presented in electronic format either in addition to or in some cases instead of on paper. There are unquestionably a lot of lawyers who will assign the task of producing the electronic document to a secretary. But this is kind of like having a lawyer these days who can't use a PC - there probably are some, but they are getting fewer and fewer. This slim document, now in its second edition is aimed to enable lawyers (or their secretaries) to produce the .pdf documents desired by the court. It does not go into all the details of what Adobe Acrobat can do, that would take a thousand pages or so. It is not a book intended for the teckie who lives, breathes, and eats computers. It tells the lawyer what he needs to know to meet the courts requirements. At this it does a great job. Summary: Really Great This book really walked me through using Acrobat Professional. I'm know computer wizard, and this book has been really useful to me. Summary: Excellent book for lawyers! I really needed this book! It focuses on the functions of Adobe Acrobat 6 that lawyers need to use. Explanations are clear, illustrations are helpful. These are skills that a lawyer could choose to "leave to the support staff." The lawyers who do that are also the ones who can be productive and profitable practitioners in the 21st Century without touching a computer keyboard. (I assume there are a few of them somewhere.) The rest of us need to know how to create, manipulate and use documents in the PDF format. This book tells us how. Those who are experienced Acrobat users may not need it, but I am not and this book really gets right down to the things I need to know to use Acrobat in my work. Summary: |
