Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: REAL LIFE CHANGING INFORMATION My wife and I read the book together about 3 years ago. We saw vividly why we were unable to communicate with each other effectively. As hard as we tried, we just weren't speaking the same language. We discovered how to communicate love to each other in a way that we both could comprehend. It wasn't that difficult, it just took a little practice. We have read literally dozens of books, saw instructional videos, and received hours and hours of marriage counseling. Most of these resources made us aware that we had a problem (well, duh) but none made much of a lasting difference in our lives. This book, The Five Love Languages, did. The change in our marriage has made such an impact in our church that we have been asked to share these principles to other married couples. I can't describe the level of satisfaction we get when "the lights go on" for someone else who comes to the same understanding that we have. Our marriage isn't perfect and never will be (this little bit of information should take some of the pressure off anyone reading this). But, now we remember why we got married and how it feels to rekindle that "In Love" experience. Summary: Five Love Languages Absolutely earth shaking So logical and so much heart in this book, I can see nnow the error of my divorces in the past. IT gives hope for the future My #1 Pick of the year RM Summary: The Five Love Languages I thought this book was excellent. It was very enlightening to me about my own relationship with my partner as well as with my parents and my children. I think this book would be helpful to anyone and everyone. Thank you Gary Chapman for putting the information in such easy to read and understand language. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 3 Reviews: Summary: Has some good info, but still a little thin I purchased this book so that I could hopefully get started pulling data from Amazon's API. When I went through the book, I found that the examples used were not explained well enough to my liking. I have been programming for 5 years, and so upon scanning the programs, I was able to figure out how to do the things I wanted. The book relies on the XML (for the php section), but does not talk about it very much. It also stresses the use of XSLT, which makes XML easier to read. I would have liked this book to talk about how to manipulate the XML data better, and also the ins and outs of calling data from amazon. What this book will do for your is take you a few steps forward if you are having problems getting started. But it falls short of going the whole way. The author leaves the rest up to you from code fragments that you must manipulate. Summary: Out of date, not useful for non-programmers I knew going in that this would not have much use for me... that's okay, one tidbit of information could pay for the book many times over. What i got was a rehash of the now ancient history (2003) versions of Amazon Web Services, and nothing useful from a pratical standpoint. I didn't expect to use the programing stuff (non outdate), but thought the author might throw in at least one example of someone useing this goldmine for a functioning task. I'm giving a 2 stars because it doesn't have some of the promised programing discussion, but recomend anyone looking to market books, etc to avoid this one. Summary: A good practical introduction to web services Amazon Web Services provides good readable information; readers who have limited background in working with web services and the technologies involved will benefit. This is a great way to start learning about web services in general and Amazon Web Services in particular. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 1 Reviews: Summary: Nothing special All of the information in the book could easily be obtained (for free!) from the Amazon Web Services website. In fact, all I learned from this book was that Amazon's online documentation was VERY complete! Summary: Waste of Money I can only assume that the positive reviews were written by relatives and friends of the author. This book is only useful if you are totally unable to search a database by typing in "rolling pin", and if you are interested in doing a lot of programming to accomplish simple and mostly useless tasks. As a seller on Ebay, I found nothing of use in this book, and, as a purchaser, I am capable of finding a "flashlight" without doing a lot of programming. This book is highly oversold. Save your money. Summary: A super guide to Amazon! This book covers a wide range of tips and tricks for using Amazon. These include at the beginning a range of advice for people who want to know more about shopping on Amazon and using the Friends and Family area and Wish Lists, but you will get a lot more out of it if you have an Amazon Associate account and Developer token with web hosting which supports the use of PHP, as many of the scripts provided only work if you're able to upload them and use them online. I am a little puzzled that nowhere in the book is it stated that you should not direct link to Amazon's images - all the hacks around the use of images involve direct links even though it states clearly in the Associate terms of service that you should upload images to your own server rather than linking directly to images on Amazon. Many of the tips are aimed at amazon.com but most will work on all the Amazon sites. It's a great book and well worth keeping to hand even if you're just browsing around adding to your shopping cart and/or Wish List! Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 2 Reviews: Summary: "Stuck" on Post-Its IT says in the title this book is by "Mara Friedman and mara friedman" but do not be mislead, this is only one person so you get a biased point of view throughout the book. It's basically next to useless: you can't order things from the book, you can't start your own competing website. It doesn't even tell you how. The "Dummies" series has really fallen down. The last good one they wrote was "Post-It Notes for Dummies" which provided a much-needed rarely-explored analyses of the history of the Post-it, misconceptions on the Post-it (they are not ALL yellow, believe it or not) and multiple uses for the Post-it. One time this model on the catwalk was totally covered in Post-its like she was wearing a Post-it dress. It was very cool. In summary if you don't like leaving notes lying around DO NOT buy Post-Its and do not bother buying the Post-It book. Unless you want to start your own competing post-it company or something. Summary: problems with navigating amazon.com? ok so i've never read this book, but if you need a book to navigate amazon.com, then you should just give me your money instead. I mean, I know it's hard to type a word and press enter, and then press buy; i think the real difficulty of amazon.com is how the author managed to write XXX pages about navigating amazon.com. Having said that, it almost makes me want to buy this book, so I'm changing my 1 Star to 2. Summary: Comments that are not specific to the item's content may not be posted on our site. As a dummy, i found this book written in a condescending and haughty tone. Where are the pictures of 50ft women? Summary: |

She talks about the Amazon.com Product ID and Amazon now uses an Access Id and Secret Access Id. Didn't look at the other Google, eBay, PayPal, etc. services Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: This biography is great to use for school I used this biography for a school project, and it was wonderful. This book has a lot of information, and very few pages;) Not only does it have plenty of info on Jeff Bezos, but it also has a lot of information about amazon.com. For example, I learned that you could write reviews for books:) This book has plenty of information, and is also very entertaining, I highly recomend it. Summary: short and to the point I picked up this book from the library for a research paper about Amazon.com for my Microeconomics class. "Amazon.com - Get Big Fast" was on order so I decided to see if this could help me get started. The writing is easy to follow (as this is a children's book) and gives background about Mr. Bezos (his youth, etc.) as well as information about the beginning of Amazon.com. My favourite bit was the struggle to choose the name for his company -- "Abracadabra" was deemed too long and "Cadabra" was thought too similar to "Cadaver." There are black and white photos in the book (images of Bezos, the Amazon River, etc.). I enjoyed the book and think that it (and others in this series) are a perfect foil to the dusty biographies that kids (including myself) had to read in the past. Sometimes one has to wander into the children's section of the library (or bookstore) and take a break from long-winded books (not that I don't enjoy them as well). Besides, all the basic ideas from big management books are in here -- like the idea to emphasize customer service. :) Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: A bargain ...and, to be honest, I'm the author. But the truth is that I wrote this book so that, if you want to sell books & CDs (& maybe other stuff) in the Amazon Marketplace, THIS IS THE ONLY BOOK YOU NEED. Really! And not merely to get started, but to quickly build a profitable small business, then fine-tune it into ever-more profitability & ever-less effort. Want to expand to other catalogue sites, like Half.com, BN.com, or Alibris? Well, good news: THREE-FOURTHS of this book will apply to these ventures, too. You learn how to set up a professional on-line mini-store, how to buy & store & ship orders, & how to look like a "pro" every step of the way. And I've got no "extra" books to sell you, no "audio book" courses, no subsriptions to my website -- this book is it. I might expand it a little in a few years... but until then, Other People's Treasures is all you need to pull books off your shelf & get them listed in the Marketplace in less than an hour. Follow my advice, & you can easily make back the cost of this book (plus postage) in your first week. I love books -- I can't wait to see what treasures you've got. Summary: |
