Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Great for all levels... I have been using AutoCAD in school for a couple of years but never learned how to fully use it, or use it correctly. This book makes it easy to learn from scratch, or just focus on what you need. It is extremely easy to use and follow. You could realistically learn the whole book in two solid days of reading. Summary: Very helpful I recently took an online class for AutoCAD and this book was extremly helpful in showing me step by step how to use the program. I would recommend to anyone who is buying the software that they should purchase this book. It is a good reference and can help you if you are stumbling on a problem. Summary: Good review of a tough program I've only known Vectorworks all these years and finally, due to office pressure, had to learn AutoCAD. Using this book was my alternative to taking an extension course. Must say it was slow going, but I just finished it. Off and on it took me about a month, though once I got past the half-way point in the book, I spent more consecutive hours on it. I don't have anything to compare it with, but my only thoughts on improvements would be to use color to help illustrate the steps, and even more minimally, just font changes to help distinguish the description of an upcoming procedure from the actual steps the author wants you to do. I know I'm going to need the help of coworkers for awhile to help me get efficent with AutoCAD. I've gone ahead and ordered the author's more advanced book. I must be optimistic of making more advances. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Autocad 2006 for Dummies Review Anyone who has attempted to use Autocad in the past knows that it is a very formidable task. At the present time I have only gotten into a few chapters of Autocad for Dummies. What I have read so far is written in plain English and is very easy to understand. I have high hopes for the rest of the book. As with any technical course, the material must be read and reread a number of times to absorb it completely. It is structured in a logical manner and addresses a wide spectrum of AutoCad techniques which I find very helpful. I am confident that with the help of this book, I will eventually be able to produce a usable drawing. Looks to be a good buy!!! Summary: Great Place to Start AutoCAD is an powerful program. This books takes you into the world of AutoCAD with baby steps. AutoCAD for Dummies throws in a line of humor on every page which keeps the reader from getting stressed about all there is to learn. If you read this book, practice on AutoCAD and then read some more - you'll be a pro soon. To learn AutoCAD also plan to go to some classes !! Summary: well suited for a beginner Middlebrook writes in a deliberately breezy and informal style that is characteristic of the Dummies series. He explains the very latest 2006 version of AutoCAD. Necessarily, in an introductory book, he does not go very deep into the full extent of AutoCAD. But given just a minimal maths background on your part, you should be able to quickly lay out simple two and three dimensional objects using his advice. That maths mostly involves a good grasp of trigonometry and algebra. If you are already familiar with the 2005 or earlier recent versions of AutoCAD, then avoid this book. You already know enough that you should get a more advanced text on 2006. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: A tremendous help My firm recently upgraded from 2002 to 2006 and it's been an ordeal. We've decided to use the project navigator's full functionallity and this book has been a wonderfull reference for the methodology behind it. I'd recommend this book to anyone doing the same. Summary: An excellent tutorial As usual, Paul's latest Mastering ADT book is a must-have for anyone needing to learn how to use ADT in a real-world scenario. Rather than just another useless listing of commands and features, it is a process-oriented series of tutorials that walk users through example projects with plenty of coverage of the "why" as well as the "how to". As an ADT instructor and consultant, I recommend it to all of my students and customers. Summary: MADT a must have MADT 06 is over-the-top helpful. With consistent reading and follow through of exercises, we easily moved from, "What the heck is all this stuff? -- to, "I get it, I get it, I can't live without it." We found Mr. Aubin's tools and project examples very applicable and useful to real world application. Another great advantage of reading MADT is the author's explanation of out of the box material in the software. Most draftsmen are compelled to spend weeks re-configuring the software and tools to draw like they draw. Aubin helps explain this is not necessary. He's right. The author not only clearly explains how to use this complicated software but helps us understand that it is already equipped to save us time and money without spending endless man-hours making it draw with every color, line weight, block and tool that we've used the last 20 years. Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Great Solidworks beginner book!! This book is great for those just learning how to use Solidworks. THe book uses a Machine shop example that you have to design an assemlby for them in only a certain amount of time you have to design it. The book goes over every part in DETAIL, breaking down the design process clearly and precisely. Each tool is gone over very well, and this book is fabulous for those just starting to learn Solidworks and those who want to move on to more advanced soliworks books!! Summary: Great book for the Classroom This is a great book. I reviewed this book in October to use in my classroom for the Spring semester. Note: I reviewed over five other SW books by other authors. By far this is the best book for all skill sets in a classroom environment. I teach four classes a week of SolidWorks. Each class has approximately 25 students with various skills. After spending time with this book, you can tell that the authors teach for a living and are user of the software. PS: I meet them at SW World and they are great for addtional advice. This easy to use book walks you through SW in no time by combining parts that you create with sub-assemblies and assemblies. The numerous illustrations with the easy step-by-step procedure makes this book ideal for the classroom. At the end of each project, additional parts and sub-assemblies are available to build your confidence. The book spends a great deal of time addressing sketch relationships. This is time well spent. The drawing chapter takes you through setting up a sheet format, detailing drawings, setting part numbers in a BOM and inserting design tables. All great things. I found myself and my students viewing the movies on the book's CD. This book is the total package. I contacted the authors and their 2005 will be released this month. This is great news when I upgrade this summer to 2005. Summary: Good book, could have been better This book is my first intro to Solidworks, found it easy to follow. Exercises are good, have to ferret thru the Net to get information to complete some of the exercises. The included CD has all the lessons animated. Great work here. If you get bored reading the book, pop in the CD, sit back and enjoy some Solidworks modeling. The appendix has some external info / reference links and also different types of cursor feedback pictures. I haven't found much use for these cursor pictures yet. Authors present design scenarios sometimes bordering on overkill, hey, go ahead teach us how to do the thing, we'll do the whining when push comes to shove!!! In some cases you have to finish a drawing with correct dimensions, as given in the book, in order to proceed to the next step/chapter, this can be a drawback when doing some casual doodling in Solidworks. An index would have helped immensely. All said, a good buy for an introduction to Solidworks 2004, if you already are familiar with any other version of Solidworks, save your money, spend some time with the software and learn whats new!!!
