Summary: Clear and Comprehensive
I usually dreaded logic games like the ones that appear in the LSAT. While some of the questions were generally straightfoward, there were some that I just couldn't get or would eventually get after spending great quantities of energy and time -- which is a definite no-no on the LSAT.

I bought the Logic Games Bible because I wasn't impressed with Kaplan's review materials, and I wasn't going to waste my money on actual classes. After only a few weeks of careful review, the logic games became clearer. I began to solve them faster and with greater accuracy. I scored perfectly on the LSAT logic games section after using onyl this book.

This is a definite buy for anyone who struggles with logic games. Powerscore takes you step-by-step to not only set up the games but also to teach what inferences can be drawn from certain game rules. Like most learning, once you see Powerscore set up a problem or draw and inference, that knowledge stays with you.

Highly recommended.
Summary: Not Very Helpful
I bought this book as well as the Powerscore Logical Reasoning Bible. The Logical Reasoning Bible was excellent and extremely helpful. On the LSAT I took, I got most of the Logical Reasoning questions correct. However, I found that the game book did not nearly prepare me enough for the LSAT. When I was in the test, I could not figure out any of the games and guessed at all 22 questions. Had I done better on this section, I would have scored really well on the test. I would suggest either supplementing this book with another book, or researching and purchasing an entirely different book.

Summary: Very helpfulLSAT prep book
For most people, the "Logic Games" section of the LSAT is the hardest. This book will make that section a lot easier.

The strategies and techniques in this book completely changed the way I answered Logic Games questions, and it helped my score a lot.

I would recommend this book to anyone taking the LSAT, especially those intimidated by the Logic Games. Even if you think you have that section nailed down, give this book a try, you may do even better!

Summary: very helpful
I teach a ladies' Sunday School class and having the parallel version enables me to compare the two versions and share with them. I love it for my personal study also.
Summary: Multiple Translations Are Helpful - The Message is a Great Start
First About Translations and Pitting One Against Another:

I took Greek for several years and can make my way through some of the simpler parts of the New Testament with lots of trips to my reference books, but I'm actually a fan of multiple translations, and believe that we English speakers are so gifted/blessed/lucky to have so many good translations and paraphrases of the Bible in English.

When you get to a difficult passage and you don't read the original language, reading as many translations as possible helps you to understand the many multiple possible readings and meanings in the original. It is as close as most mono-lingual people will come to actually reading the original text.

With that said, The Message is a great paraphrase for people who are not fans of reading or whose vocabularies and understandings of texts are limited. It is also great for people like me who have read the whole Bible several times in the KJV, the NKJV, the RSV, the NRSV, the NASB, the ESV, etc. etc. who have memorized large sections of the Book and who have come so accustomed to some of the passages that the urgency and power of the core text sometimes gets lost. The new angles that Petersen introduces helps people like me return to the power of a first encounter with a very interesting and wonder-filled book in ways that might not otherwise be possible.

What the Message doesn't do well is capture the power of the poetry in the books of wisdom, in some of the prophets, and in parts of the gospels and in some of the letters of Paul (and, perhaps, in the book of Hebrews). I think that Petersen's version of the Psalms are particularly weak in this area.

But again, his version, set beside the KJV, the RSV, the ESV, the NRSV, and the NIV will allow each of the translations and paraphrases to complement each other and help readers increase their appreaciation and understanding. I think there is value in that. So this parallel version is a great opportunity to start the process of comparative understanding that we might call the discovery of inspiration.

There really is no reason to fight about it, unless we are one of the few people who can read the Greek and the Hebrew fluently, we'll all have to settle for someone elses 'version' and we will all benefit from the experience of reapproaching the text from several different angles.
Summary: You Must realize the Message's purpose
For the bad reviewers here - the purpose of the Message is to get people reading the Bible who normally would not. It is not intended to be a stand alone Bible, or a Bible for intense study - although The Message is a great companion translation to study with. I find that it makes me think about a passage in more depth instead of assuming I already know what it means.
Also, for the reviewer who believes we should learn English better and use the KJV and RSV - who's English? That of King James in the 17th century or the English we actually speak today? If you want to seriously study the Bible you should learn Greek and Hebrew - the languages that the Bible was originally written in. That's what Eugene Peterson did, and anyone who takes issue with his translation should not simply compare The Message to other English translations, but compare the message with the Greek and Hebrew Bible.
The Message is getting people into the Bible more than before - and that is good.

Summary: Great LSAT Prep
This book seperates all LSAT Logical Reasoning Questions into 18 different types. They tell you what the question stem for each type looks like so you can identify it quickly and effectively use their Powerscore strategy. The book also uses REAL LSAT questions, which most other test-prep books does (which accounts for the high price - just a tidbit of advice, buy it well in advance of the October LSAT, the prices increases about 15 dollars in July).

I'm a pretty organized person, so the divide-and-conquer method worked for me beautifully. It also helped me grasp some formal logic strategies for the LSAT, especially helpful since i never took formal logic before. This is the most comphrensive and helpful book out there about Logical Reasoning which is 50% your score on the LSAT, so there's no foolin' around here.
Summary: Buy it Now
There is nothing better on the market in terms of breaking down each question type in the logical reasoning sections. Not only does the author identify typical correct anwers types but also walks you through incorrect answer types. The author arms you with question specific strategies that both enhance your speed and accuracy. (My score jumped from the high 150's to consistently scoring in the high 160's.) Give yourself plenty of time to carefully go through this book and you won't regret it.
Summary: LOOKING FOR SOMEWHERE TO START!
I BEGAN STUDYING FOR THE LSAT AND WAS REALLY CONFUSED BY THE LOGICAL REASONING SECTION. I WAS THINKING I AM A VERY BRIGHT PERSON AND I DO PRETTY WELL ON MULTIPLE CHOICE TEST, BUT THE LSAT WAS ANOTHER THING. I WAS CONFUSED. I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE QUESTIONS AND I JUST WANTED TO GIVE UP. I READ SEVERAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE POWERSCORE BOOKS AND I DECIDED TO PURCHASE. I AM GLAD I DID. THIS BOOK HAS HELPED ME TO UNDERSTAND AND SEE THE COMMON MISTAKES I WAS MAKING AND LEARNED FROM THEM. I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU PURCHASE THIS BOOK.

Summary: Absorbing!
I love this book. Simply absorbing. Very easy to read. In addition, the examples from Steven's personal and business experiences appear to be sound.

What captivates me the most is the practical application of spiritual wisdom to conventional ways of living.
Steven has successfully applied such wisdom into his business endeavors. No wonder. he's reaping the fruits a thousandfold.
Summary: A Path To Success
The Richest Man isn't much different than other personal success books.Create a vision, make a plan, work the plan, and try to avoid pitfalls that commonly trip us up on our way to a better life.Using the Proverbs of King Solomon, The Richest Man Who Ever Lived offers a new guide to wealth and success based on wisdom. The Richest Man Who Ever Lived delivers a solid guide for getting on the path to success.
Summary: Founder of Jet Blue Was RIGHT
The founder of Jet Blue called this book "Truly Amazing", and that is an understatement. When he interviewed that author a couple of weeks ago, Larry King called this book a terrific read. He was also right--but for me this book is a terrific resource--one that I've used a dozen times for my marriage and my work since I bought it in May. I wasn't going to write a review until I read ks'review. He obviously hasn't even read the book, because Scott explain's Solomon's failure in the first chapter of this book. Solomon fell because he became arrogant and set aside the very wisdom he revealed in Proverbs. I HATE it when someone writes a "review" before they even read the book. If he had read the book he would have realized that doing so is one of the attributes of a FOOL according to Solomon. This book isn't about Solomon, it's about the incredible solutions to all of life's problems he gives in Proverbs. I just bought my tenth copy to give to a friend whose marriage is in trouble, and i KNOW they will find the answers in this wonderful book.

Summary: Excellent work about a less-than-excellent subject.
Ehrman is an engaging, intelligent, skilled author. In this fascinating work he patiently explains the all-too-often unsung work of philogists. He is reasonable in his discussions of faith and history. Read this book and become enlightened once again about the nefarious doings of the anti-rational true believers around us. Another related book to read: Burton L. Mack's WHO WROTE THE OLD TESTAMENT?: THE MAKING OF THE CHRISTIAN MYTH.
Summary: Bias Observation by me.
One needs to know I am a captivated reader of Professor Ehrman so this is biased. Dr. Ehrman shows how the Bible is probably far from what it originally was intended and how it became what it is today. In it he tells of the early manuscripts and how scribes probably sometimes inadvertently and sometimes intentionally altered the early manuscripts. For those believers of an inerrant Bible written by a god, this book is probably not a good choice. Those of that persuasion will have to believe the god also had men nuance the subsequent changings after reading "Misquoting the Bible."
Summary: Not what the book title seems to imply.
The explaination is not clear and some arguments are not logical. I think the author could not put aside his biased judgement when reviewing the Bible as an open minded person.

Summary: Good next step
This is the continuation from "Option Made Easy..." by the same author.
Summary: Great Option Reference Book
Nice reference book for dipping into any options strategy you can think of. The illustrations and explanations are very efficient which means I can pick the book up and get the answers I need very quickly.

Summary: Really Helpful
This is a fantastic book that enables you to look at any options strategy you fancy and pick out the salient points, including a worked example for each one.

Definitely a dip-in type of book, each strategy follows the identical template so it feels very familiar once you've read through a couple.

Great use of illustrations, really helpful for understandng risk-reward and the Greeks for any strategy. Amusing use of icons too - shows you can have a sense of humour even when describing the serious topic of options tradng!

Summary: A great learning book
I bought this book to learn more about Excel, and it did just that for me.
You will probably find it lacks depth if you are an advanced power user, but for someone wanting reference or just learning more about Excel this is a good buy.
Summary: As a quick-reference guide, it does the job well.
My confidence in this guide was tarnished somewhat due to the fact that the very first spreadsheet I opened on the accompanying disc (CH 22, "real estate.xls") had an obvious formula error. However, I purchased it as a quick reference guide rather than an full-on instructional guide, so for that purpose it has done the job well. It helps solve those "I know Excel does this task, but I just cannot remember how to tell it what I want!" problems with relative ease and the index has thus far been very detailed and accurate.
Summary: Íf you need fast answers, don't buy this book
This is supposed to be "the" bible on Excell. And it is; it has everything there's to know. BUT, if you need to get your answers fast in order to get your work done, don't buy this book. This book, as well as other "bibles" series, are design with a whole CD program with sample exercises. If you go thru them, step by step, you'll learn your stuff. But, if you just need to get into the topic of getting something done quickly, you will find that their explanation is EXACTLY AS THE HELP FUNCTION ON THE SOFTWARE. And then, the will give you an example from that CD program. Believe me, if you don't want to go thru the whole reading process and just need answers in a need basis, this book won't do it. The same applies to the Access Bible...
