Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Spanish: The Completre Language Course Until now I have heard it only ones, but I think the course will be helpful studying Spanish. It would be even better if the course were spoken in Finnish, but propably there are not such courses? Summary: Better tapes are available This course is good for practicing pronunciation, but not good for learning to put words together into sentences. Each of the early lessons consists of English words that are repeated twice in Spanish but not revisited until many lessons later. There isn't enough repetition to build a strong vocabulary. Summary: I Agree With Anuvise Rivera of "Editor of LearningSpanishProductsReviews Anuvise Rivera "Editor of LearningSpanishProductsReviews.com" in his review of Behind the Wheel Spanish and Learn in Your Car Spanish echos my sentiments exactly. He prefers Behind the Wheel Spanish because it teaches more vocabulary and also teaches you how to form your own original sentences instead of just 'parrotting' phrases. I have tried both courses and I agree. Behind the Wheel Spanish is by far the superior course. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 3 Reviews: Summary: Good Purchase I have taken a few French classes and this was a fun easy refresher to teach and go over the basics in spoken French language. It also helps refine pronunciation and was exactly what I was looking for. It might be a little challenging for someone with no experience at all in the language. Summary: The First 3 CDs Helped Tremendously! I had to go to Paris for a conference and didn't know the first bit of French other than "Bon jour!" and "Oui." I searched through many options and, after reading all the reviews, decided on French Complete. I spent two months (about 3-4 hours per week) listening to the first 3 CDs (Level 1) over and over and over again in the car. By the time I left for my trip, I was surprisingly comfortable with basic French conversation. I was confident I would be just fine. Then the trip came and I was surprised that I was more than okay! I not only managed to get directions, talk to the waiters/waitresses, and purchase items, I even had an American woman stumble through asking me something in French after hearing me talk with a French woman. She thought I was French! I was also able to help an American couple purchase metro tickets at the ticket window. I didn't go on to Level's 2 or 3 before my trip because they got even more in-depth than what I figured I needed for my trip and I was correct. However, I had so much fun on my trip and had so much fun speaking French with the French, that I'm going to go back and follow-up on my lessons. It's true that a lot of French will talk to you in English, but I never could have found that hidden metro station at 12:30 am without these CDs. And that would have meant walking all the way back to my hotel. One last thing. The CDs come with a little booklet that you can read along with (assuming you're not driving at the time) to see the phrases. I highly recommend NOT using the booklet. You'll get too caught up in pronouncing French words with an English pronunciation. Just listen and learn and you'll be fine. If you want to, look at the words AFTER you know how to pronounce them and what they mean. Then, you can actually start learning how to read and speak. French Complete is tr?s bon! Summary: Good Car French Course Overall * Some Drawbacks 'French Complete' by Henry N. Raymond is good solid French course. When compared to courses such as Berlitz, Living Language and especially Pimsleur I would even say that 'French Complete' is an excellent value for the money. As with other 'Learn in Your Car' courses that I have reviewed, what I like about 'French Complete' is the amount of vocabulary that they present in the course as well as the number of verb tenses that are taught. The voices on the CDs are extremely clear and the method used is effective, to a point. This is where I feel some improvement may be needed. There really is no effort on the behalf of the creators of this fine course to provide the learner with some means of expanding their ability to create their own authentic sentences. The 'canned' sentence approach where the student simply repeats sentences with vocabulary, however useful and relevant, is much less effective in achieving the goal of fluency in a language than a course that would emphasize sentence 'creation' based on the individuals needs and goals. This emphasis on 'real' as opposed to 'rote' learning is the optimal way to learn to speak a foreign language. Few courses have it and 'Learn in Your Car' is no exception. Still, it must be said that the sheer amount of material that is presented in this course in an effective, pleasant and clear manner makes this an outstanding value for the money. Tip: Supplement this course with one or two other 'car courses' which feature different teaching approaches. I would stay away from Pimsleur courses because of the limited vocabulary, rigid structure with no multi-tracks, and excessive price. There are many other good French courses out there. Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: "A must read" This is a book that simply brings economics to life.Economic theory can sometimes be a little bit abstract and hard to imagine or even link to reality, Tim harford in this book has sucsseeded in linking theory to reality with talent and ingenuity. If you are a student of economics this is a must read. Summary: For people who want to understand economics but are put off by economic jargon It's a dull truism that there's no economic theory so preposterous that it hasn't been seriously advocated by an economist. But it is equally true that real economic wisdom has been provided by practitioneers of the "dismal science". All economic insights--good and bad--tend to have a shelf life. Without periodic renewal the best ideas become stale platitudes distilled into curves in textbook graphs, then slowly rinsed away by the latest or (most politically comfortable) fad. We need readable economists to periodically dust off timeless truths of human behavior with original perspectives that cut through the fog of political rhetoric and identify by relevant metaphor and example what actually works for us, and why it does. Harford does this with a folksy, conversational wit that avoids the polarizing arguments that attend every economic controversy. This isn't any groundbreaking milestone in the advance of economic theory, but it is a humorously wise series of essays presented in original (and very eloquent) ways. Summary: Simple facts of life viewed with a different perspective. I'm still reading this book, but so far I'm very enthusiastic about it, because it makes me think about ordinary things of everyday life and everyday economy. I even start looking into how things are economicaly done everyday with different eyes (the eyes of an economist). Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Simply outstanding I grew up with Richard Scarry books, including the now out-of-print "Busy Busy World." For some reason I had forgotten what a gem this is. Any child will delight in it, and for parents it is so nice to have a book that can be different every time you read it, as most of our books are read over, and over, and over. Summary: My son's absolute favorite book My son (21 months and obsessed with cars and trucks) asks to read his "cars and trucks book" every single day. It seems like every time we read it, we find something new. Great for keeping kids engaged, and the photos are excellent. Summary: Great book This book is great. Kids like the stories and pictures, but best of all they like finding goldbug on each page. Everytime I read it, I find something I missed. I recommend this for kids of all ages. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Beautifully illustrated I purchased this originally, because as well as being a fan of the movie, "Cars", I am an up and coming animator and am very interested in all aspects of animation. In the description it told me the book tells of how the original idea was made into a film and the steps and research taken to do so, so I bought it. I am very pleased with this book, it is wonderfully illustrated with production sketches, storyboards, landscape and building drawings and detailed character drawings. I also found the information very interesting too, not too much writing but just enough to keep it informative. It is a sturdy hard back edition so it will last far longer than a soft cover and perfect for a coffee table book. I found out a lot I didn't know about the film and I highly reccommend this book for people who are interested in animation as well as fans of the film! Summary: A Must-Read fpr Pixar Lovers, Car Buffs, Aspiring Artists and Disney Fans John Lasseter and Suzanne Wallis have a winner on their hands in this important art book that reaffirms the contribution of the artist to the final computerized production seen as "CARS". In this generously illistrated book we see the progression from original concept sketches and atmosphere renderings to the beautiful final scenes that reached the screen of CARS. This is a must-read for anyone who appreciates the creative process. John Lasseter has elevated animation to a new level while preserving the quality of story telling that can only be compared with that of the master: Walt Disney. This book is a tribute to the genius of creativity. Somewhere, Walt must be smiling. Summary: The Art of Cars I think this is one of the best illustrated books I've ever bought and read. I received the book before seeing the movie, so I was anxious to see if the movie followed the book. It does and it's most helpful to see how the movie came about. The illustrations in the book are of such quality that it is comparable to any coffee table book I own, and those are many. The artist' drawings are exceptional quality. I was impressed to see how many years went into making the movie and the book told the complete process of consultants, writers, etc. that were consulted to make sure of the movie's authenticity as well as appeal to both children and adults. Michael and Suzanne Fitzgerald Wallis certainly nailed Route 66 in the book and therefore was presented in the movie with much detail. Having driven Route 66, I recognized many of the buildings, landscapes, etc. depicted in the movie. Had I not ever driven Route 66, the book and thus the movie, would have made me want to see the amazing part of Route 66 located in the Southwest so well presented. Again, anyone wanting to own a beautiful book of illustrations, as well as reading how a movie is made, needs to get the book, The Art of Cars. It'll make you want to see the movie and motor West getting your Kicks on Route 66. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 3 Reviews: Summary: Great idea but needs monitoring with younger kids The quality of the book itself is great - sturdy, thick, laminated pages with high quality graphics and color. The stickers are reusable. However, while they are thicker than just a regular sticker, they are made of paper and still tear if pulled off at the wrong angle. My 3.5 year old son loves looking through the book and matching up the stickers with the various shapes on the pages, but I either have to peel off the sticker myself and hand it to him, or make sure he is pulling it off at the correct angle so it doesn't rip. We've already torn two in half and I had to fix them with scotch tape. It's too bad the stickers aren't made of 'colorform' type of vinyl that wouldn't be as fragile as paper ones. Summary: Great Stickers & Great Price This is a great book, the stickers ARE reusable, the book is sturdy, high quality. The book has great scenes for stickers to be applied, blank pages with suggestions on different ways to play, and pages for matching (ie: wheels to cars) included. My 2 1/2 year old grandson spends an hour with it, and the price is right! Summary: |

With over 1000 of the world's finest models, from over 200 marques, it has certainly captured the best amongst its pages. It also has some strange picks, but it doesn't claim to only list the top cars. And the world doesn't start in 1945 for this author, his team goes back as far as 1891 for their car selections. Excellent colour photos, with some B/W. Godd source of information on cars from the 1930s. With over 500 pages, this is a big book in all dimensions. Great value. Summary: |
