Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Read before you practice I have practiced interior design for over 20 years and still found this book to be invaluable. The information about legal ramifications and insurance coverage was enlightening but also sobering. It's a must read for any design firm principal or freelance designer. Summary: Get It! This book reads like a friend whispering all the good advice and secrets of the interior design business in your ear. I wish my Professional Practices class had used this text. It's a lot of information but Christine Piotrowski truly takes you by the hand and lets you know what you need to prepare for in a budding interior design business as well as how the interior design business is done in general. I will be referencing this book again and again. A huge thank you and bravo to Christine Piotrowski Summary: Must Have! This book was used for both Business Practice For Interior Design & Sales and Marketing. I had no need to consult any other source. "This is a great book" THANKS.. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 3 Reviews: Summary: A visual beauty but... If you are not Donald Trump and your house is not Mara Lago you may be a tad dissapointed. I was expecting an affair w/ this book. According to the author, what every guest room needs is Egyptian cotton percale sheets w/ a 400 thread count. Ok..lol...shoot me...I buy my sheets at Target. I found the book a bit stuffy for my taste. Summary: a special book, a special gift When I bought my new home in Italy I wished a book which could give me ideas for decorating the rooms in country style. I chose this by Bunny Williams and I am relly satisfacted because there are a lot of nice suggestion and beatifull pictures. An Affair with a house is a best book of mine from now on. Summary: Every page is a treasure! Just adore this book -- I keep it by my bedside to review as often as possible. Can't wait for the next book!! Thanks Bunny!! Summary: |

Publisher: Professional Publications (CA) |

| ISBN: 1591260477 List Price: $126.00 Amazon Price: $79.38 Usually ships in 4 to 6 weeks |
Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: A big book with an awful lot of information. Now in it's third edition published in 2006 and brought up to date. This is the standard reference guide to the NCIDQ examination, but more than that this is an excellent reference book into designing the interior of a structure be it a house or a commercial building. For instance, you may be designing an office that has to meet the Americans for Disabilities Act (ADA) -- How wide must a hallway be to allow two wheel chairs to pass each other? Being an interior designer, especially a self employed interior designer also requires business knowledge. This is also treated with a general introduction to businesses practices from taxes and insurance to the business practices related to other designers. As an 'exam cram' book, there is material on the nature of the test, how to take the exam, even what to take with you to the examination (even suggesting you take aspirin along - just in case). This is a large book, it has a lot of information, it is worthwhile reading if you are just planning to design your own house or office. It is mandatory if you are planning on taking the NCIDQ exam. Summary: Interior Design Reference Manual This book has all you need to study for the NCIDQ exam. I'm also glad I found the 3rd edition on Amazon because all the other book places I looked were $100 plus for this book! Summary: best available study guide this one's the best book to study for the NCIDQ. but they need to make an updated version. i just took the ncidq and items on the test but not in the book were drapery, carpet and wallcovering calculations and sustainable design. Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: amazing resource! WOW! beautifully organized and articulated. thoughtful and well-rounded discussion of the variation and evolution of interior design. it was purchased to use as a course resource (on 20th century American consumer culture), but am now tempted to buy my OWN copy. Summary: Usefull For designers It's a very interesting book, it offers a vew over design from ancient times to ower days. We can follow the developement of design over time. The book is recomended especialy for professional designers. Summary: A History of Interior Design I really do enjoy the book except that on some important topics in the class I am taking with this book there is little information. Nonetheless on the topics it greatly expands upon the book shows impressive and accurate knowledge. The pictures also aid in examples and are for the msot part the best picture examples that any book could offer. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: I *adore* this magazine I am not a big magazine reader -- never have been, never really had time to! However, a friend of mine at work kept bringing me copies of this magazine to read...after falling in love every time read it I finally I had to get a subscription of my own! This magazine covers everything! It's got tips for life, cooking, decorating, organzing, and getting the best deal for your money. A lot of the stuff in here -- shortcut cooking ideas, for instance, are stuff that I use and apply to my normal life. For example: the July 2006 issue has a dessert shortcut for peach cobbler. The result of that recipe was a WONDERFUL dessert for my family of four that took me... less than 15 minutes to prepare and tasted great! They don't endorse products NEARLY to the same degree that most magazines do, and when they do it's in an article where they had comparisons done...always a recommendation, and usually more than one. The important thing here is they don't say "buy this product" they say "buy products that have such and such feature, make sure it has this in it for silky smooth hair, and oh here's an example of what we're talking about." They make you an informed shopper instead of just throwing products at you withotu reason or rhyme. So, in conclusion, if you're like me and can use a few extra ideas about EVERYTHING in your life...this is a great magazine. The information is helpful, applicable to normal everyday life...and it's not so full of ads that you want to choke the advertisers. Summary: Real Useful I just wanted to comment on some of the other reviews that are posted here. Many try to sterotype the type of readers who like Real Simple, well I love this magazine- and didn't manage to fit into any of there categories. My aunt sent me this magazine and then I began to read it monthly, I enjoy the tips and sections like "No time to clean?, quick solutions for every room"- yes they do have product suggestions, but much of the information that is provided can be done with things you already have. Others have called this magazine- " a slave to fashion", as a woman in her 20's I would say this magazine is the one that contains minimal clothing information. Overall I enjoy this magazine, as others have mentioned the recipes are great and I always find plenty of good tips. The photography and layout are amazing, I always use the old editions for reference or crafts. Summary: A Magazine for Real Life My mother bought me a gift subscription when I moved in to my first apartment. I love this magazine. I pass the recipies on to family and friends, who have enjoyed them as well. The simple solutions to everyday needs are extremely helpful and well worth the $30 or so for a subscription. I am buying it for a housewarming present for a friend this week. Summary: |
