Avg Cusomer Rating: 3 Reviews: Summary: Really worth to buy Very good reminder points. Tricks are the best. Easy to study, no confusion. Summary: Very Good Book, But... This is a great book if you don't take this book for what it's not. It's not a self contained book. But it has great notes and exercises on project management and it refers back to the PMBOK Guide quite frequently. After all, you have to read PMBOK Guide: there is no escape from that. It's a great book if you are taking a course; not supposed to be self contained book. Keep the PMBOK Guide nearby when you are reading this book. Yes it's a challenging book because the PMP exam is challenging. If you want to read a PMP book without referring too much to PMBOK Guide, pick up Mr. Crowe's book: The PMP Exam. It's an easy read. However, it can give you a false confidence that you know enough when you don't because many topics are not covered with enough depth. It's a good book, but don't count on it alone. If you want a self contained PMP book, also an easy read, with comprehensive coverage of all topics, check out Dr. Sanghera's PMP In Depth. Summary: Complaint Since my book hasn't been delivered yet I can't make any comments about it. It was purchased more than one month ago... I heard it is a great book but, unfortunately, I can't submit any review about it. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: A Good Start For A Successful School Year This book turned me into a big Harry Wong fan. Last year was my first year of teaching high school. I was scared to death when I got the job, because my teaching experience has only been with PreK-8. By the end of the school year, I was given the highest possible evaluation rating a teacher could ever receive...on my first year in high school! I owe part of my success to this book. It prepared me to start the school year right. By following his advice, I stopped discipline problems before they even started and was able to concentrate on giving my students a good education. Looking back, my not-so-good first year of teaching right out of college was caused by not taking enough time to create procedures and drill my classes on them. Rather than teaching, I spent most of my time fighting classroom management issues. Reading this book completely turned my teaching around. The book is not perfect, but it offers valuable and very practical advice. While most of the things he writes about in this book are really just common sense advice (like one reviewer commented, "We already know that!"), you will be surprised how many teachers with years of experience under their belt fail to incorporate the basic no-brainers (such as the "dress for success" bit) into their teaching, then wonder why their classroom is a zoo or why their students don't respect them. Summary: The First Days Of School: How To Be An Effective Teacher This is an informative book that gives new teachers tools for coping with all of the questions that must be answered in the first few days of teaching. The answers provided in this book can lead to a successful first year. Summary: What a disappointment... Ignore the hype and save your money. This book is so general and vague. It didn't provide any new info or tips I hadn't heard in an inservice or class. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Good Idea to have It gives a good idea of the type sof question. The untimed diagnostic test had pretty good question must do them. The practice questions are easier that them. Summary: Understanding the GMAT English is not my native language, thus preparing for the GMAT has been a double effort for me. This book helps you clearly understand the different sections of the test, what is measured, what tips you should know, and how you should face each problem in order to maximize time constraint. It includes real questions, with explanations of correct answers and explanations of wrong answers; it helps you understand why you chose a wrong answer or why you took the "wrong-long" path to resolve it; i think this method is effective for you to avoid future mistakes. Sebastian Moraga Santiago - Chile Summary: Lots of practice, no explanations. This is supposed to be the response from ETS to the kaplan method. It is interesting because it brings a shaddy comparison of miths and facts about the GMAT but it does not tell you how your answers affect your score, it seems to keep things secret. But the real 800 questions are very helpful for the good amount of practice you're gonna get, just don't expect good explanations on the correct answers or how to solve the most difficult problems, and also use a dictionary to undestand their english, it is too academic for some. Avg Cusomer Rating: 3 Reviews: Summary: Pales in comparison to the other 5. I was excited to get this book, and shelled out the money to buy it. I read a lot of it on the way home from Wal-Mart, and then the rest of it that very same night. That has been a long time ago now. Yes, it has been a while since it has came out. And yes, this review is a little late. So I will make it short. There are many things I liked about H-BP; some of the content was just impossible not to like. But as I read, I noticed that the characters seemed very distant. There was a certain lack of introspection throughout the entire book, which kind of bugged me. It was all 'action' and 'talking' but no 'feeling'. The kissing parts... were dragged out, and lagged the book down, to make it too sappy to ever come close to earning five stars from me. But I am not a huge fan of romance novels, so that is just my personal opinion. Yes, the book introduced a new angle to Harry Potter... and it did have a lot of twists and turns that I am still looking forward to see how they play out in the next book. But overall, The Half-blood Prince wasn't captivating, like the predecessors. Hopefully book seven will be better, and will shed new light on this one. Summary: from a kids point of view- LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT its so awesome. i was out of town when it came out. my cousin and i went at midnight, had a ball. we got the book and driving home we were reading the book with the mirror lights from the car, along with the headlight shadows. We didnt look a page ahead. at all. we didnt look to see how many pages their were. we didnt look at the chapter list. that gives it away. i was at his house for the night, and i was downstairs when my brother and he came down and grabbed my book so my bro could read my copy. i got it back. so anyways the next day all we did was eat and read. eat while reading that is. we didnt stop. it was so GOOD. not the food- the book. we finished it in 11 hours, and we wanted to read it again. the laughter, the tears, everthing!!!!!! a must read!!!!!! although if youre gonna read the seiries out of order DO NOT START WITH THIS ONE Summary: Sheer Drivel I was a Harry Potter fan up to this abomination of literature. It is shallow, boring, and far from thoroughly explained. A complete waste of money. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Character Beats out All Averages, Hands Down His emphasis on character as the basis of effective living -- and a good basis for life -- is a unifying theme that will pull together all of the other points Sean Covey places in his book. This book is no copycat of his father's book; it is sharply readable and entertaining, as he promises at the outset. It's not hard to forget all the reasons not to be self-centered, materialistic, petty, and all the other bad things, when you keep in mind the idea of having good character as the basis for learning. In this way, too, the student can keep in mind possible explanations for parent behavior; they are reacting to stimuli that include but are not limited to things the reader may be up to. Not that parents are perfect -- not all of them, anyway. Some parents should be taken to the cleaners to dry in the sun, at least for a while. However, all other things being equal, the parent who does not aim at least part of his or her relationship with youth on the overall development and growth of his or her teen may be readily persuaded to see the light and accept the child for who he or she is by throwing this book at them. I have to give The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens about 4 stars, but it was a toss-up. It doesn't compare well with War and Peace, but as self-improvement reading it is hard to beat the seven habits book. The title probably required a release from the father-author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People -- or a great father-son relationship, anyway. On second thought, the publisher would have required the release, regardless. Almost nothing gets 5 stars. However, if you know somebody who is -- or if you are -- feeling messed up about which end is up and it seems that everything is racing through the mind too quickly, then slow down and look at the fundamentals, a little. Next, give this book to your parents, it should be mandatory reading as part of the parent licensing program I would propose that somebody or some group, church, religion or philosophy administer. Summary: I love this book Wow this is one of those books that when you first look at it it looks boring its not. I ran for the Miss pagent of my town. "In my case Miss Yucca Valley" I was told that I was going to read in this book. I love to read so I didnt think much of it. I began to read every day. I fell in love with the ideas that this book holds. I began to read every chance I got. My friends were laughing at me because all I talked about was this book. The lessons in this story really taught me something. Every teen should read it. Summary: Simply put, it works It's right, these are highly effective habits for not only teenagers, but anyone. I was disappointed with this miniature edition, not because there is anything wrong with it, but I did not expect it to be so small. I recommend the regular sized book. You will undoubtedly be an improved man if you read this book. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Hidden Gem! I happened to find this book while browsing the teaching section. It has truly been a great resource that every (new) teacher should have. Unlike most of our teacher ed. programs, this book gives practical information about how to run a classroom. You won't regret buying this book, it is a wonderful resource! Summary: A great resource for any teacher! My school district gave every new teacher a copy of this book. The new teacher that I am mentoring shared it with me. After reading through it I was excited to find a book that focuses on instruction instead of some silver-bullet discipline plan. The instructional strategies are written clearly and consisely. Both of us bring our copies of Why Didn't I Learn This in College? and use them as we plan our units and lessons every Monday for the following week. I highly recommend this book to any teacher. Summary: An ESSENTIAL for All Educators! Practical, positive, and pure Paula! WHY DIDN'T I LEARN THIS IS COLLEGE? is an ESSENTIAL professional resource for educators at all levels of experience! Paula Rutherford applies her 30 years of teaching and educational leadership to create this book of research-based teaching tips and user-friendly tools that will help increase student achievement in our classrooms. She offers a logical framework for creating learning-centered environments, planning "with the 'end' in mind", and organizing learners and professional tasks for positive results for students, parents, and teachers. As a veteran teacher and coach for novice teachers, I use this resource as my NUMBER ONE traveling companion and "virtual" collaborator. Paula's pro-active and positive voice resonates through its pages as my teachers and I use this information to bring all students quality instructional programs and opportunities for maximum learning. Thank you, Paula, for being my constant "ride-along" learning buddy! Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Solid foundation for the MCAT Ek bio - this is the STUFF!! I pwned the BS MCAT by reading this book 3 times and difficult topics 2-3 more times. Was able to teach myself microbiology and human physiology with this book. you don't need advance classes like genetics, cell bio, physiology, microbiology, biochemistry etc. EK Orgo- Very condensed. Excellent chapter on experiments. Very solid review book but Bio book is still tops. note cards tear out of book that's on heavy stock of paper. memorize those. I needed to use a chart from my Pavia Ochem lab manual to figure out solubilities. Solubility Test is CRUCIAL for MCAT passages. EK Chemistry - Good book. Wish it had more examples in the Acid/base chemistry. Electrochem chapter probably needs a small amount of further explanation. Everything else is solid. Supplemented with textbook and kaplan comprehensive review(for more examples of problems). One caveat: I took general chem well over 10+ years ago. EK Physics - Good book. E&M chapters needs more work. The Thermo chapter is actually very good. Thermo is just a tough topic. Should have an example on incline planes explained in the readings before heading into problems. The Optics chapter is actually very good if you spend some time on it. This is a solid book but I had to supplement 2 chapters with a physics text book and kaplan comprehensive review(for more examples of problems). One caveat: I took physics well over 10+ years ago. The end of chapter topic questions in EK PS/BS are right on par with the MCAT. I redid these with each reading and can say they are challenging so that you are not going to simply memorize the answers. You really need to activate the thought process. the 30 minute exams are great as well. Don't do the 30 minute exams until you feel comfortable with the material. If I took Chemistry and Physics within the last 2 years like I did with orgo and bio I'm sure I would not need to supplement with textbooks. When I took the exam I only completed basic sciences so need for upper division science classes. Get the AAMC MCAT Topic list then be sure to buy AAMC exams and EK Verbal 101. With each passing week concentrate on your weaknesses and cut back on topics you have mastered. August 2005 MCAT score: 10P 10V 12B Summary: Manageable study program After being away from college for 10 years, I have found the MCAT review very comprehensive and manageable. The subjects are divided into separate books, which makes them very portable. The diagrams are fantastic, and the authors' sidenotes clarify what you need to know outright versus what's background info. If you need further help, there are Examcrackers resources for that too, such as flashcards and extra questions for each subject, so you don't have to pay for what you don't need. It is somewhat tailored for those with strong science skills, and weak verbal--the Verbal Reasoning book really walks you through the basics. Since that is my strong suit, I don't need my hand held for that, while I do for Physics, so I guess my only complaint would be that they assume you're a science wizard and verbal dummy, so those of us with the opposite skills don't get the same benefit of that stereotype. I know, probably most medical students fit that mold, but that doesn't mean those of us who have to work a tad harder don't belong in the profession--once you know it, you know it. There's room for all types, as well as a need! Good program overall, I'm very pleased, and would recommend to anyone. Summary: Exceptional Book and a lot of material This book is worth the price! It gives you a lot of material to work with. I studied these the second time I took the MCAT for a period of 4-5 weeks. After which I took my old Princeton exams, I aced them without even touching my old Princeton notes. While admissionsmystery .com book is great/insightful for AMCAS application strategy, I think these set of books are great for the MCAT. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 1 Reviews: Summary: if you have to throw away $150... If you actually buy this book you're paying for the illustrations. Don't waste your time actually reading it, the presentation of the material is ponderous and completely unimaginative. The chapter on immunology is one of the worst I've seen anywhere. The COVER of the book speaks volumes for its content. I'd be afraid to be seen in public with it. Summary: X and Y chromosomes A more serious omission is the absense of the x chromosome from the glossary though that y is there, unconsciously reinforcing that men are incomplete females? Males come equipped with beefed up sixpacks whereas the woman look like demure little housewives. Artists have tried to depict other races but the gender representation is pathetic. A heterosexist pro-male interpretation of human sexuality is found throughout the book, which can be annoying. Some of the comments obviously written with students in mind are patronizing. The layout is repetitious and and at times quite unstimulating. The best detail was why a chicken breast is white considering its a muscle. Summary: laughable omission How can this really be an Anatomy and Physiology textbook written by a Phd? There is not one picture or drawing of a male foreskin (prepuce). One does not have to wonder why the medical community is so ill prepared to deal with a normal male body. Summary: |
