Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: A great formula one technology docuemntation. A great work, dealing with many aspects of formula 1 technology, discussed clearly and in a comprensive way. Summary: This book really is a must have for F1 fanatics The book really brings many explanations about F1 technologies. Is very detailled and it has very good desings inside. The only thing that I really felt missed is the actual technologies. (From '02 until now) Summary: Wow The book I was looking for years ago as a Toyota Atlantic mechanic,... not too technical but with plenty to think about. Plus it's from SAE. I wish it had a longer aero treatment 'tho (but that's just where my interests lie) Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: a must-read for the F1 fan, less one star for bias This is overall a very good and comprehensive history of the past 50 years in F1. In a year-by-year fashion the reader is able to follow how the world's fastest sport has evolved. A fascinating read in general and a must for every true F1 fan. Every decade is covered by a different expert guest writer, all of them great past and current champions of the sport, and this adds personal color, but also bias. David Coulthard of the McLaren-Mercedes Team covers the 90ies and of course gives his very personal perspective on the most recent seasons. The downside of the guest-writer format is a general loss in homogeneity that can't be avoided with this system. While the pictures are carefully selected and in part very stunning and excellent, some true gems of the past are sorely missed. It is very, very clear that this is a british book, and some of the other great European and South American drivers are not covered in as much depth. Summary: A Very Good Book on the History of F1 Racing . . .but. . . This is one of the few books in the book store which tells you how it all started back in 1950. You can find a lot of rare F1 photographs (B/W and Colour) from 1950 to 1999 in this book. For each year's championship, there is about 1 to 2 pages of text depicting the highlights of that year. All in all, I found this a very good book. Whether you are a F1 fan or not, you will enjoy reading it. Unfortunately, I also bought "Autocourse : 50 Years of World Championship Grand Prix Motor Racing" by Alan Henry and I gave that book 5+ stars. In most parts, these two books are on par but on subjective preferences, I found the photographs in Alan's book more attractive and give more depth into F1. If you are a serious F1 fan and your buget allows, get both books. If you have to pick just one due to whatever reason, I'll recommend Alan Henry's over Bruce Jones'. Sorry Bruce!! Summary: 50 years of magic! Comprehensive but not exhaustive review of the 1st 50 years of the sport. Loads of fabulous photos I never saw before. The 60's are especially well covered. Very good year by year synopses, plus insightful re-caps of the decades written by such greats as John Surtees. I cannot put this book down! Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: If at first you don't succeed............................. What did I expect from this book? Information, entertainment (always) and an insight into the life surrounding Formula 1. What did I get from the book? Information, entertainment and insight into Formula 1. It was such an easy read, some may say too easy but it was great to have a book that I could pick up and put down at will without having to remember where the story was going. A text book it is not but I sure understand a lot more of the life in and around F.1. Summary: A look at the human side of F1 If you are looking for a blow-by-blow account of a F1 season, you would be better served by Matchett's "Life in the Fast Lane" an inside account of Benneton's crazy 1994 season. If you want to learn more about F1 technology, then try "The Chariot Makers." However, if you want a very human and personal account of one man's journey from being a road car mechanic to mechanic for a Formula 1 world champion in a half decade, this is the book for you. Matchett describes his cautious entry to the sport, the great Benneton personalities he meets (most of whom have now gone on to senior positions all over the sport), the insane hours, and the holiday antics in the off-season. The book is peppered with Matchett's insight about the workings of Formula 1. Interestingly, he strongly disagrees with the Benneton's sacking of Schumacher's teamates every year and believes stability in the 2nd driver position would have improved the team. Ironic that Ferrari has used that exact strategy: Schumacher has had 3 teamates in the last 11 seasons... A must read for anyone whose interest in Formula 1 goes beyond glossy driver biographies and flashy magazines. Summary: Steve Matchett's: The Mechanic's Tale I buy about 10-15 books a year related to racing. I also have many subscriptions to racing magazines. I have put off getting this classic for some unknown reason. I have always wanted to get it but this book has eluded me until recently. I have to say that this is one of the best racing books I have ever read. Matchett is a much better writer than people give him credit for. His use of blending incredible detail with humor is amazing. Mark my words, you will be reading this book and have moments in which you will find yourself in tears from laughter. This book is also very informative and is not your average racing book. I have also read his first book, which is also a classic, but I feel that this is the better of the two. I found myself not being able to put it down and anyone who loves racing will be in the same situation. The book starts out with how Matchett started his career as a mechanic and a brief history of how he was able to break into Formula One. I actually got an idea from the book that I now use everytime I'm looking for a new job. Anyway, the chapters go over the years he spent in F1 and gives you the true story of what F1 team members go through. On the outside it looks like they live a glamorous life, but you get to see the side that most people don't get to see and the true appreciation for their efforts is realized. Bottom line is that this is a must read for anyone that is a racing or grand prix fan. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: The best book I have ever read! It features several trading systems that can tell me when/where to buy, where to place stops, how to protect profits and when/where to pyramid mechanically. Summary: For Position Traders The best method I have ever tried for a position trader. Works best with high liquidity stocks and stock indexes on weekly data. Use ADX 14 and 20 MA to confirm the presignal. On stock index (S&P 500 and Ridex funds for the short part)I enter with a 1/4 at presignal if confirmed. This is a must buy text book. How come nobody says anything abot this method in any other books I've read or seminars attended. One of the best secrets kept together with "The Taylor Trading Technique" by George D. Taylor or "Steidlmayer on Markets"s last few pages. Good trading! Summary: Outstanding Somewhat obselete now, but certainly an epic book when it was written. I can see elements of LBR, Victoria Pearson and Joe Ross from this book and it's fairly obvious they were influenced from it. Lots of very basic, logical price action and even the most experienced trader can pick up a few things here and there. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: A full record of the F1 team that revolutionized GP racing! Perhaps best known today as the Formula One team for which Mika Hakkinen, Alessandro Zinardi, Johnny Herbert, Nigel Mansell and Ayrton Senna all drove early in their Grand Prix careers, Colin Chapman's British F1 group revolutionized the sport -- everything from monocoques to wings to sponsors -- and were the McLarens of their day. Like March, BRM, Tyrrell, Brabham and other now-defunct F1 organizations, however, Team Lotus could not keep pace in the increasingly capital-intensive realm of modern F1 racing. This detailed and well-referenced tome is a wistful, race-by-race record of the most influential Formula One team of all time. Summary: |
