Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: all the Nancy Drew and other books I love it and love to read Summary: Nancy Drew. I love Nancy Drew and this book set is awesome! I started reading Nancy drew when I was about six or seven and I still read them at fifteen. These are good "advanced" Chapter books for both boys and girls. Note: For those who say that Nancy Drew is "unrealistic" It's becuase when Nancy Drew was first written it was written so girls can get their minds off the great deppression. It wasn't supposed to be real. And the people that say that Nancy has no colored friends, it's becuase in 1937 they didn't have that! It was still a problem for Black and White people to sit together. That's the way it was then, these books are fun to read. Not masterpieces and deffinatley not educational pieces. But fun nontheless Summary: Loved It! Great reading for young children, boys and girls alike! Great price and great service from Amazon! Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Truly the Best Book of its Kind I own a lot of gardening books and this is one of my all time favorites. I return to it almost every season. It's rare that a book with pretty pictures delivers on the substance and this one really does. Williams gives you a great framework for how to look at your garden, offers tons of beautiful examples and gives you lots of practical tips. Plus she realy has great taste which is unique and special as opposed to generic good taste which a lot of garden tomes support. I finally visited her garden when it was open to the public and it was even better than the book! She's extremely talented. Summary: Best of the garden design books When I first moved into my new house (it was my first house) I read several books on garden design that would give me some kind of orientation about what to do with my back yard. It was a mess. Ms. William's book stood out (and still does) as the book that was most helpful and inspiring at the same time. It is beautifully written and well organized, and takes you through all aspects and stages of garden design, from principle to execution. Threaded throughout the book is a philosophy of restraint that I have learned is so important for the garden or any other designer who aims at the achievement of quiet beauty in his/her environment. Ms. William's book (accompanied with the beautiful prose of Nancy Drew, writer on garden life) is certainly a must have for anyone starting out in garen design, and the photographs make the book worth having for any garden enthusiast. I was shocked to see that no one had given it a five star rating till now! Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Nancy Drew, Facts and Feminism If you're looking for behind-the-scenes info on Nancy Drew, this is a pretty good source. It's fairly light-reading while still being informative on Edward Stratemeyer (the force behind the book series syndicate that brought us "The Bobsey Twins", "The Hardy Boys", "Nancy Drew", etc), on his daughter Harriet (who, along with her sister, took over the syndicate after his death), and on the feisty ghost writer behind the creation of Nancy Drew, Mildred Wirt Benson. The author presents the two women, as well as the fictional Nancy Drew, as feminist icons (sometimes, straining mightly against the facts). Still, a great deal of research seems to have gone into this book which makes the turbid wade thru feminist waters worth it. Summary: Nancy Drew-- the inside story...by a sleuthing author....FUN Amazingly fun reading. Melanie Rehak is very detailed and did her sleuthing research on Nancy Drew and the women (and men, YES) who created her. This is Rehak's first book -- but she's known in NY circles for her articles and reviews etc....she does a terrific job tracing Nancy Drew's history and role in popular culture from 1930 to today....80 million books later-- she (Nancy Drew) is a cultural phenom that seems to transcend age and the web. Just in time for summer reading -- did you know the new Nancy Drew movie starring Julie Roberts niece just wrapped and will be heading for theatres soon...The info on the STratemeyers including Ed the dime novel genius and his daughters such as Harriett is fascinating. Kudos to Mildred Wirt Benson-- originally from Ohio I believe....who ctually wrote unde rthe pen name of Carolyn Keene....from The Secret of the Old Clock to the latest incarnations such as Papercutz American Anime Nancy Drew Versions ([...]-- and yes I do know the guys there) you'll find a version and tale of Nancy Drew for everyone. Great gift. Don't worry the book looks old but that's the cover design...There's also a discussion guide available at [...] so you're reading club can add this to your collection....great cocktail party chatter or fun shower gift or Bridesmaid token....enjoy.....!!!!! Summary: An irresistible weave Author Melanie Rehak does a superb job of weaving together the threads of social history, an enduring character, the women who created the character, the business that sold the character, the woman who ran the business, and the man who started it all. I relished reading all the "inside stories" of how the Nancy Drew and her series came to be. More startling but equally delightful was realizing how thoroughly--and positively--my adult outlook on life was influenced by all those girlhood hours spent in the company of the spunky girl sleuth. Bravo, Melanie Rehak. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 2 Reviews: Summary: They are ok... These books are ok. Just not my preference. They just don't have the same feel as other Nancy Drew, they seem to have lowered the maturity level off Nancy and upped the mature relationship between Nancy and Ned. It's still fun to read but just not the Nancy Drew I know. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Nancy Drew Mysteries The book The Secret of the Old Clock was an excellent book that you should think of buying, here's why! First of all it would be excellent for a book report book, it is a fun book to read, and a mysterious yet exciting mystery book. Also it has detailed examples of the story, which are exciting, but kind of scary, which makes you wander what happens next. Then every time you think the mystery will be solved you keep going and it still goes on. That's why you should buy this book, it is suspenseful, exciting, makes you wander, and it is kind of scary. Summary: the secret of the clock i relly enjoyed this book.it is about nancy trying to find a missing will written by josiah crowley.when nancy is locked in a closet and the narrow escape in getting the clock from theives makes nancys first case very exiting! Summary: an exciting mystery This was my first Nancy drew mystery. And I thought it was great. It was exciting. In the middle of the mystery, I would stop and try to figure it out myself. I tried to guess what the clock and the notebook had to do with each other. I would recommend this book to kids 10 and up because it is a little scary in places. It is fun to get into books that are old like this because a lot of parents read the Nancy Drew books when they were younger. It is fun to talk about the mysteries with a parent or grandparent who remembers them. By HG. Summary: |
