Summary: Mediocre at best.
I took my initial EMT class with the Brady text... very in-depth and full of information (and about twice the size of this one).

This one seems to be very dummed down, with about 1/2 the info. Adequate for an EMT class, but it doesn't exceed the curricula in any area.

So, its average, and could use some padding.
Summary: Excellent Reference Manual
This is really a reference textbook for the education of new EMT's, but the information it contains is complete, concise and extremely up-to-date (important in a field that is changing ALL the time!)

Highly recommended as a text to have on your EMS shelf.

Summary: Good reference for the EMT
This text is traditionally seen in the classroom, however not all EMT classes utilize this text and some technicians may not be familiar with it. In essence, the text is designed to provide the necessary knowledge to become an Emergency Medical Technician.

Content includes basic physiology, medical terminology, patient assessment, and emergency interventions on the basic life support level. The book assumes no prior medical knowledge on the part of the reader and the information is presented in a clear and logical manner.

The text is also useful to the layman who would appredciate a more in depth approach to the recognition of medical emergencies and life saving interventions.

Summary: LIKE READING SOMEONE'S DIARY
Basically a series of anecdotes. Like reading someone's diary.
The interesting anecdotes were that Marjorie Merriweather Post liked her gold bath room fixtures because gold is much easier to clean, that one of Bobby Kennedy's kids OD'd in room 107 of the Brazilian Court Hotel, and that the Kennedy estate was falling in and had no A/C when the family sold it. Of course, Donald Trump weighs in with his genius for self promotion. I guess one could have used it for a guide to the hot bars and restaurants in the late 90's when the book was written.
But the book is sadly lacking in insights and history of how Palm Beach became such a center for superficiality and messed up values. About the only insigths he offers is that super rich are often unhappy, and their children could care less when they die.
Don't bother!
Summary: I Hate Myself
I hate myself for having read this book right to the end. It was like reading aspecial double issue of Vanity Fair, packed full of scabrous gossip about a bunch of people I never heard of efore and never will again. The so-called "celebrities" who flicker through the pages of the book were just flying in, they don't live in Palm Beach, and who's left? Well, Donald Trump and a few others, all of them deadly dull.

Every page has some kind of cautionary tale about the straight men who rule the roost in Palm Beach and buy their love with money. This one "can't keep it in his pants." That one " has to get his affairs into order." It would be interesting if the reader cared about any of the people, or again, knew who they were. The author, Kessler, who wrote a fairy tale book about George Bush Jr's Presidential character, is obviously in great anxiety about his own social status, and he must feel that rubbing against these rich, spoiled people on vanity fair's bank account, is going to make him somehow less Jewish.

As many readers have commented, the book is filled with photos of Kessler and his wife ("Pam") meeting rich people, trying to look happy and relaxed. But their flop sweat is written all over them. Whoever the photo editor was for THE SEASON should have discreetly taken the Kesslers aside and told them how tacky their photos are, save them for the panelled den in their suburban home, or their cabin cruiser.

Kessler tries to imitate the highly worked novelistic shape of MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL by focussing on the dreary story of a male "walker," a single presentable man who is available to escort society women to parties--this character is called Kirby and he indulges in a passion for a so-called straight man named Bill, a loser ex-con who's always up to some drug-inspired mischief. Kirby would be pathetic, but at least he shows some emotion. Unlike the other people Kessler tries to impress us with.

As one woman says in THE SEASON, "There are a lot of floozies and fruits and nuts. There are also a lot of beautiful men and women here.. But the ones who are straight are taken. I live in a crazy town. People try to contaminate me with their bizarreness." Well, hey, I live in a crazy town too, but I never felt contaminated until I read this impossible, heartbreaking book about trying to mingle with your betters.
Summary: Interesting read but not earthshattering
I initially picked up this book because I thought that life in Palm Beach would make for an interesting story. I was wrong. Dead wrong. Instead I find tales of deceit and lies interwoven to form a web of snobbery, elitism, and low self-esteem. Yes, low self-esteem. For if one really reads betwen the lines and asses the information in Kessler's book, one will find that the people are lacking inmany ways that money cannot fix. Overll the book was interesting. However, I feel that Kessler indeed got bogged down with too much namedropping and with too many vague and uninteresting characters. The story could have flowed a bit better and perhaps would have been more interesting had he gone more indepth about the bigotry that currently inhabits Palm Beach. Still, this was not Kessler's best work.

Summary: Probably one of the worst books on palmstry ever written!
This Llewellyn Publications book is a BIG letdown! Information and diagrams seem to have no real order or reason. The pictures are truly rudimentry and are of little to no use! Trying to be the optomist that I am, I am searching (and struggling) to find something good about this book......maybe the last section on how to be a professional chiromancer might have some merit....

For the begining Palm Reader, try the Complete Idiot's Guide to Palmistry- it's comprehensive, digestable, and full of helpful information for the professional or novice.

Summary: Instant Palm Reader
Instant Palm Reader by Linda Domin is all that its title promises--most people can learn to read palms quickly and easily. The book is designed as a "self-guided tour" and is filled with large, clear illustrations. Domin suggests that readers "start by just looking at your opened right palm, while turning the pages with your left hand and comparing your own palm lines with those pictured."

Depending on how long you stop to study each line in your palm, you can get through all the pictures in less than two hours.

Each line is described in detail, as to whether it is thick or thin, long or short, curved or straight, broken or solid, or intersects with other lines or markings. Domin provides an interpretation to match every variance.

For those interested in more depth, Domin offers the history of palmistry in her introduction. She says that "Aristotle was the first to maintain that the grooves, creases, and lines in the palm are a result of nervous and muscular interplay directed by the brain."

Domin further explains that "a large percentage of nerve fibers leading from the brain are projected towards the outer extremities" and that "information stored in the brain is then projected upon the surface of the palm, like a video camera projects an image through a network of cables onto a screen."

The final chapter of the book is directed to those who want to become a professional palmist, with instructions and tips for reading the palms of others for a fee. Domin also includes a bibliography for readers desiring further information.

Domin says "your hands contain the physical, emotional, and mental picture of the real you." Instant Palm Reader will help you discover the "guidelines for a happier and more fulfilling life" that are imprinted upon your hands.

Summary: Ilustrations and simple text guide anyone into palm reading.
I'm an avid reader of palmistry text, and this book is very simple for anyone who is slightly interested in palmistry and knowing his or her personality and future. She also gives a point out or two for people who want to do palm reading as a profession. The insight this book gives is incredible because I've found it to be truthful when I've analyzed my own palm, and others. If you are skeptical, this book might just win you over. If not, oh well, it's still fun and entertaining!

Summary: An overwhelming sensory experience
Much like the television miniseries, the Wild Palms Reader overwhelms the senses upon first review; the material contained within is dense, fragmented, and complex and requires multiple readings to "sink in."

Readers looking for more of a true companion to the miniseries offering additional background information about the characters and backstory / history leading up to the events of 2007-08 featured in the revolutionary miniseries may wish to look elsewhere. Some such information is indeed tucked into the book, though due to the nature of presentation the reader will need to take multiple approaches to locate, digest, and grasp it. However, if you are looking for a sourcebook offering snippets and slivers of the disturbing world of the future presented by Wild Palms that captures the inapproachable essence of the series itself, this book is for you!

Summary: Success, disaster, laughter and tears ~ Myrna Lou shares it all, in this revealing, comprehensive collection of case studies!
Myrna Lou Goldbaum shares 42 absorbing palm reading sessions recorded from 1956 to 2003, to inspire, enthral and delight anyone. Even the sad tales are thought provoking. Again, Myrna proves that true-life stories can be entertaining, educational and empowering with this easy to digest, timeless book. It's a must-have for your coffee table, guaranteed to get the conversation rolling, because there's not a tale you cannot relate to. As an added bonus, at the end of each session there are inspiring quotes by famous people, authors and friends.

It is clear Myrna Lou encourages `free thinking' in all her clients; enabling them to choose their own path, make their own decisions from the information supplied, without enforcing her own ideas about what should be done and when.

In my last review, I mentioned Myrna's 40+ years of experience. I have since found out, this is more like 55 years, and with 32,000 palms documented, a 90-95% accuaracy, her own internet column and three books to her name, I think you'll agree Matchmaker Myrna is a respected, knowledgeable expert in her field. Awarded `Palmist of the Month' by Seventeen Magazine.

Fancy looking her up? You can find her here, at her home page for more information. Visit her blog too, for daily updates.

Summary: My Review of : Diary of a Palm Reader by Myrna Lou Goldbaum
"Diary of a Palm Reader", written by Myrna Lou Goldbaum is an interesting, informative, and a well written book that will keep your interest from cover to cover. Myrna Lou Goldbaum is a palmist, a psychic, and an author.

This is the second of three books that the author has written that I have read.

In the past 53 years the author has read over 30,000 plus palms. She shares several of these readings in this book. She holds the interest of the reader from the beginning right up to the end. The Diary of a Palm Reader is an excellent choice for people of all ages. The author has a talent for giving information in an easy to understand manner that holds the readers interest, and makes them want to read more.

I plan to keep this book in my library and will recommend it to anyone that enjoys a good reading book. The true life stories in this book are ones that people will relate to and will appeal to people of all ages, both men and women. I enjoyed this book very much.
