Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: One of the best choice As a lecturer in corporate finance, I should advice to everyone to consider this book. In some 1000 pages, it summarize all different aspects of finance. It is well done as each chapter has its own set of problems. Ross et al. also explore some issues actuacty raising in the acdemic filed (dividend, mergers,...). Definitely a good choice. Summary: Great Book for people who want it from the beginning This is a great book if you want to start exploring finance area. The online material is pretty good as well, the only minus is the price (which is still OK for a book like that...) Summary: Review of Ross, et al's Corporate Finance Found the book was well laid out and covered all the relevant topics very well. Book was also very readable for a text book on corporate finance. However, the I did not think the CD or the supplements were worth much, but I don't know how much they added to the cost. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: Amazing, most practical book at college education I am using this book for my business class. This book will teach you in-depth principles and skills on how you can manage business operations with a lot of mathmatical skills. I feel that this book is great because it is very well organized and easy for readers to read. It has graphs and visual aids all over and CD materials for students to go through problems. By learning this book, readers can not only gain the knowledge on business operation, but they can also have actual skills in operation management. Buy this book if you are interested in this subject. Summary: Review The book came on time in good condition. The price was rather high but the convience of having it delevered to my door the next day was worth the extra cost. Summary: Operations Management We did not receive the book as quickly as we had hoped. I did have to return the book and had no problems with at at all. And a refund was issued promptly. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Brilliantly constructed tragicomedy What if you could go back in time and meet your future husband or wife as a child? How would that change your relationship? The Time Traveler's Wife is more of a love story than generally suits my taste in fiction, and that is why I cannot give it five stars. However, if a beautifully constructed, evocatively written tale of enduring love couched within a highly paradoxical (yet central) premise of time travel is your cup of tea, then you cannot get better than this. The characters, emotions, and family dynamics ring true to life; the story is seamlessly developed through multiple timelines; and the writing is adept enough to make me feel like I was eavesdropping on the devoted married couple. (Maybe that is what made me a little uncomfortable with the "love story" aspect. I will admit there were a few occasions where I just wanted to skip pages because I did not want to know that level of detail about these people. Clare's sexual awakening--regretably told from Henry's point of view--is one example.) Flawlessly constructed, at times almost painfully evocative, but always highly original, this novel offers much to consider about the enduring nature of love. Summary: I Love This Book!!! This is an excellent book. It kept me consumed with it the entire time I was reading it. Like nothing else I have ever read. Love it! Summary: Save it for a long weekend.... This is a truly original novel, both fascinating and endearing...though he travels through time, Henry is otherwise a fairly average Joe. However, I do recommend reading this book in as few sittings as possible. Every couple of pages the story leaps backward or forward through time, and if you leave the book sitting for too long, you may have to re-read certain portions to get back up to speed (I began dog-earing passages that seemed particularly important). I work full-time and am a law student in the evenings, so it took me a month or longer to get through the novel....I wish I had saved it for a long weekend, as I fear I may have missed some of the finer details...but I thoroughly enjoyed it, nonetheless. Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: A classic! I can't add much to what is already written here. But I must say, these teaching approaches work. The authors back up every method with careful research. Best of all, the methods are described specifically. There are too many high points to list them all. Here are just three things I especially liked: 1. The explanation of the effects of massed v. distributed practice. 2. Chapter 12 on how to USE the approaches in planning. 3. The Types of Word Problems diagram in Chapter 11. If you teach math above the second grade level, this matrix is in itself almost worth the price of the book. If you are serious about results from your students, this book is a great tool. Summary: don't buy if you need a hardcopy! I don't have an opinion on the book itself, it's a requirement for a class. However, I thought although there were restrictions (understandable copyright issues) on printing, I could have the inexpensive ebook, and print a hardcopy to take to the class. If you have printer issues (and you will) you will be penalized for those copies, whether they are printed, readable, or not. Subsequent downloads to override posed a different kind of printer issue, as it began printing pages 'backwards'...so I'm still out my pages. I'll have to buy the hardcopy anyway. Summary: All the keys are here If someone gave you a book that had the keys to learning in it, would you read it? You are a good teacher, so of course you would, and it is this book. Many books out there are some research, some theory--this book is all research-based strategies that are proven to work in a classroom, so there is no guessing if these are effective methods or not. The accompanying handbook helps you to apply these strategies to your content, giving you step-by-step instructions. I would highly recommend this book for any teacher at any level and any subject area. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: UNO student This book is pretty easy to follow, if you can follow simple algebraic graphs and logic (emphasize logic). I thought at first that maybe this book may have been easy, so I looked around on amazon and inferrred from what I read that all the micro books that are making big sales to universities are the same. By that I mean not to math intensive, just schedules, graphs, and definitions. I got an A in the class and feel like I definitely learned something. I recommend this book for those who want to learn on own also. Summary: A good survey 'Foundations of Microeconomics' by Robin Bade and Michael Parkin is an interesting text for an introductory course in Microeconomics. The primary academic division at the beginning level of economics is the Micro/Macro-economic divide; often it is taught as a two-semester sequence for students going into economics, political science, history, business or any other such discipline that requires a thorough grounding in economic theory and principles. Bade and Parkin are aware from decades of teaching experience that students often get lost in a sea of detail, and that many introductory economics texts (as do the introductory texts of many fields) attempt to do too much too quickly in introducing their subjects. Bade and Parkin organise each chapter, therefore, around only a few core principles - three or four at most. They have also built into this text a very extensive set of charts and diagrams to demonstrate the points that are being explained in the text. Each chapter begins with a checklist, and ends with checkpoints (which follow on from section checkpoints along the way). Included in this is a featured called the 'Eye on...' feature - these are small articles that highlight practical, real life situations in which the principles under discussion apply. They may be domestic or international in scope, and may be current or significant in history. The book is adaptable to many different uses - the introductory pages highlight four alternative means of focus that the book can take: a traditional micro-economics course approach; a public policy emphasis; a business emphasis; or a shorter policy emphasis. Each of these build on core principles in the early chapters, and then expand from there depending upon the primary interests of the class or reader. The layout of the book is visually interesting and lively. The use of colour, photographs, and charts and graphs adds tremendously to the feel of the text. The text is sharp and concise, without sacrificing clarity or content. One very important section that I wish would have more detail and emphasis is the appendix to chapter 1 - Making and Using Graphs. Interpreting and drawing graphs seems to be the single largest problem area for students I tutor in microeconomics, so more emphasis on this part would be appreciated, particularly as the skills given in this section carry throughout the entire book. As a primary tool, the relegation of this to an appendix sends somewhat of a mixed message of the importance of graphs. Perhaps renaming this as a chapter in its own right would help somewhat, with more detail and examples (much like in mathematics, it is in the repetition of the exercises that the students gain mastery of the concepts). Students are indeed called upon to do many exercises during the course of this text (learning by doing, rather than just through reading), but the early grounding in graphical representation is critical. Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: I borrowed it then bought it for myself... I do not watch much television or read many magazine so I had never heard of this book at all. A friend of mine brought it to my house one afternoon and told me he had just finished it and he thought that I would be into it. I lay in bed for the night with the lamp on and thought I'd start on it and i finished it that night. The book def. brought many tears out of me. Recently I bought the paperback version for myself so I could read it again and coax my husband to read it, as well as let some other people borrow it. The book is great, even if you've not been close to someone with a life threatening illness. It really makes you think about your interactions with other people. If you take the book to heart you'll get a lot out of it other than just the experience of reading a good book. Summary: Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live... Tuesdays with Morrie is an inspirational story about a man stricken with ALS pouring his heart out to his long lost student (Mitch Albom). The old professor realizes that he doesn't have much time left, as does the student, and the pair meets once a week to discuss as aspects of life. Instead of sulking in self pity for his last few weeks on earth Morrie sees a golden opportunity to express things to the ones he loved, to say good bye before he is gone forever. The thing about life is that we rarely know when it's going to end, Morrie was given the chance to say goodbye to everyone he loved while conveying his message to millions that tuned into his three appearances on `Nightline.' Reading this book taught me a lot of things about myself and about life. Many people, including myself, take each day for granted, assuming we deserve to wake up. Our days on this earth are certainly numbered but the time is truly sufficient to lead a rewarding life. There is specific way to go through life but Morrie does set out a blueprint to show how to handle every aspect or roadblock encountered, while leading a fulfilling life. Money is the lone factor that motivates some people, the thing that will grant them `happiness.' The truth is that all the money on the world cannot buy time; it can not let you go back in the past or alter the events of your future. While we are on this earth many will live in the past or the future rather than the present, sulking in what they should have done and fretting as to what they will do. After my time has come to an end on earth, I want to be able, as Morrie was, to look at my self in the mirror and be happy with the way that I spent my days on this earth. I am so glad that I was given the opportunity to read such a book at a young age (20) and have plenty of time implement Morrie's words of wisdom, to live my life to the fullest. Rest in Peace Morrie Schwartz, Brian Bowen Summary: Really made me think about today's society in the USA. I apsolutely loved this book! Makes you think, realize, appreciate, and even change your way of thinking on many accounts. I have also read and watched the movie "The five people you meet in heaven", another great read. I already have the movie to "Tuesdays with Morrie" on hold at my local library. Thank you Mr.Albom!! I can't wait for your next creation. Summary: |
