Avg Cusomer Rating: 4 Reviews: Summary: Character Beats out All Averages, Hands Down His emphasis on character as the basis of effective living -- and a good basis for life -- is a unifying theme that will pull together all of the other points Sean Covey places in his book. This book is no copycat of his father's book; it is sharply readable and entertaining, as he promises at the outset. It's not hard to forget all the reasons not to be self-centered, materialistic, petty, and all the other bad things, when you keep in mind the idea of having good character as the basis for learning. In this way, too, the student can keep in mind possible explanations for parent behavior; they are reacting to stimuli that include but are not limited to things the reader may be up to. Not that parents are perfect -- not all of them, anyway. Some parents should be taken to the cleaners to dry in the sun, at least for a while. However, all other things being equal, the parent who does not aim at least part of his or her relationship with youth on the overall development and growth of his or her teen may be readily persuaded to see the light and accept the child for who he or she is by throwing this book at them. I have to give The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens about 4 stars, but it was a toss-up. It doesn't compare well with War and Peace, but as self-improvement reading it is hard to beat the seven habits book. The title probably required a release from the father-author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People -- or a great father-son relationship, anyway. On second thought, the publisher would have required the release, regardless. Almost nothing gets 5 stars. However, if you know somebody who is -- or if you are -- feeling messed up about which end is up and it seems that everything is racing through the mind too quickly, then slow down and look at the fundamentals, a little. Next, give this book to your parents, it should be mandatory reading as part of the parent licensing program I would propose that somebody or some group, church, religion or philosophy administer. Summary: I love this book Wow this is one of those books that when you first look at it it looks boring its not. I ran for the Miss pagent of my town. "In my case Miss Yucca Valley" I was told that I was going to read in this book. I love to read so I didnt think much of it. I began to read every day. I fell in love with the ideas that this book holds. I began to read every chance I got. My friends were laughing at me because all I talked about was this book. The lessons in this story really taught me something. Every teen should read it. Summary: Simply put, it works It's right, these are highly effective habits for not only teenagers, but anyone. I was disappointed with this miniature edition, not because there is anything wrong with it, but I did not expect it to be so small. I recommend the regular sized book. You will undoubtedly be an improved man if you read this book. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: A great ride! I really like novels that blend genres like science fiction and thrillers- you get the best of both worlds if it's done well. This is an exciting tale that moves at a fast clip, but the ending does (unfortunately) leave some unanswered questions. The suspenseful chase of the Flock by the Erasers (who want the Flock dead to keep the experiment that created the Flock a secret) almost makes up for the too-abrupt ending. But if you like non-stop action with characters you really care about, Maximum Ride is a joy ride. Also read An Audience for Einstein, another very good novel that blends genres well. Summary: Must Read! Heard an audio tape selection of this book online and was hooked from the very first page. Loved the characters and the way Max took charge of the other children. I couldn't put the book down and finished it very quickly. Gave the book to my father and he also loved it. I encourage everyone who likes to read fast action adventures to purchase this book. Summary: Good story, but not without its flaws When I first started reading this book I thought it was kind of lame. I mean, a bunch of winged kids living by themselves, lead by a boy called Max (you don't find out she's a girl until a bit into the story). It seemed to be full of cliches - Angel, the blonde, sweet baby of the group, Fang, the strong silent type, The Gasman, who is very protective of his sister and who is well-loved dispite his problem, Iggy, smart but quite bitter, Nudge, a chatterbox who never stops talking and finally Max, the confident leader of the group. But I kept reading and I'm glad I did - the characters evolved throughout the book and the plot was good, the pace was quite fast so there were almost no boring bits. The only problems with this book were the kind of "extreme" way it was written - even the girl's name "Maximum Ride" seems to be part of a teen marketing campaign to get people to buy the book. Also, there is the problem of the inconclusive ending. I've read lots of books like this, so it didn't really bother me, but it seems to be a problem for quite a few people. If this really bothers you, you should probably get both this book and the sequel at the same time. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: The 7 HELPFUL Habits for Teens This book is great! Teenagers can really relate to this kind of stuff! The book is jam packed with pictures, quotes, and best of all the best advice a teenager could get! It's divided into sections of the 7 Habits for Highly Effective Teens. This book isn't a book to preach or lecture. It's a book to learn from and grow from. If you really take this book to heart it could change your life somehow. It could help give you more positive outlooks on life. This is a great book for teenagers~ Summary: A College-Student's Review of "7 Habits ... Teens" * * * * * FIVE STARS! NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! * * * * * Last summer I found this book on my younger brother's desk--a gift to him from our mother. As an eighteen-year-old college student, I thought the writing would be "too young" for me. NOPE! I read the book and it has significantly changed my views of myself, others, and the world. On another note, I liked the book so much that I decided to check out 'the original,' Sean's father's book (7 Habits of ... *people*): the verdict: I personally found the book for Teens a MUCH better read. Sean's writing style is concise and very visual, making it easy to understand, enjoyable, and fun. The anecdotes and stories are universally applicable--despite racial, economic, etc. backgrounds (or even age!). He doesn't waste time getting to the point, taking a single paragraph to introduce a new concept, and then supporting it with two or three stories, anecdotes, or quotations; and yes, there are even pictures too! The end product is something that is VERY enjoyable, practicable, and has helpful. If you have ANY doubts about whether or not to read this book, I would say that if you are even looking into it enough to read this review, you and someone you know can greatly benefit from the ideas in this book. Of course self-change is scary and difficult, but this book makes it fun and easy. It's helped me to not only improve my own life, but also that of my younger brother, guiding me to be a better role model for him. When I first found this book I had made fun of it, but as soon as I had begun reading, I was hooked [or as the book would have me say, "I hooked myself..."] Thanks Sean (and Stephen) for your contribution(s)! [And thanks Mom, too...] : - ) Summary: A very interesting, and lifechanging book I have personally read this book, and ( as a 13 year old), it has drasticly changed my life. There are passages in this book that told me things about myself I never knew. Like this " I'f who I am, is what I have, and what I have is lost, who am I ?" I no longer feal that money or impotance should matter in my life. I should live it accourding to my life, and not by the will of others. Summary: |

Avg Cusomer Rating: 5 Reviews: Summary: The Clique is Back, The Plot is thickening The Pretty Committee is back, in this great sequel to the already awesome novel, "The Clique". In this book, the plot takes a wild turn when Massie decieds to beat two girls to having a boy/girl Halloween party. She gets caught up in the spirit, when she and the rest of the Pretty Committee where their hot, new Halloween costumes to school, and get detention. They then have the Halloween party, but one of the girls is not permitted to attend, because of the detention. The party is also not all it's cracked up to be, because Massie finds out her crush likes someone else. Then, the worst happens. Something that might actually tear Massie and Alicia apart... This sequel shows that a great story can keep going on. I highly reccommend this romantic, true, and funny book. Summary: You Can't Put It Down ALL the girls in my school were reading this book and saying how good it was. So I thought I would give it a try, one of the best desicions ever. When I picked up at home my mom had to tell me to stop reading which is a very rare thing let me tell you. In this book all of these things happen: betral jealousy friendship understanding boy-watching and a lot of shopping After you read this book I bet you will be hooked liked I was. So I suggest when you order this order the whole series. Summary: The Clique Novels The Clique Novels are really great! Massie, Claire, Dylan, and Kristin you'll get to know and love all of them. If you like stories about popular (sometimes backstabbing) rich girls, cute boys and crushes this book is for you. Might I add the ending of The Pretty Comitee Strikes Back is ahmazing can't wait to find out what happens next!!!!!! Summary: |
